Having a range of visual strategies is important when introducing division. Here you will have a choice of using arrays or equal groupings.
Dividing with Arrays
There are 6 Sets of Worksheets covering 3 ranges of numbers
Set 1 & 2: Dividends are between 6 and 25
Set 3 & 4: Dividends are between 10 and 42
Set 5 & 6: Dividends are between 12 and 49
Sets 1,3 & 5: The total number of objects is given. Students have to find the number of rows, number of objects in each row and write the division equation.
Sets 2,4 & 6: Students have to also count the total number of objects
Making Arrays
Students are given a page of division equations and from this they must create an array.
There are 2 Sets of Worksheets
Set 1: The dividend is between 4 and 42
Set 2: The dividend is between 20 and 80
This is really the reverse process to the previous set of Worksheets on Multiplying with Arrays.
Division with Equal Groups
8 Sets of Worksheets
4 Sets: Dividends are between 6 and 25
4 Sets: Dividends are between 20 and 50
Within each set of 4, objects are bundled together with the equal number of objects in each group. Further differentiation includes being
How many worksheets are in each set ?
Lots and lots … At the click of a button, located at the bottom of each page, the pictures are randomised, so the questions change every time which allows you to create new worksheets at the same level for extra practice or revision throughout the year or even give groups of pupils in your class different sets of questions again all at the same level. The multiple levels of worksheets means that you can differentiate from the very start and have the freedom to set the pace of work that you deem is best for each student.
No-Prep Worksheets
These are straightforward no-prep worksheets that require no extra work. Simply CLICK-PRINT AND GO. This makes them ideal to have printed and ready for a replacement teacher if needed.

*Year 4 programme of study: Number – fractions - add and subtract fractions with the same denominator’
Pupils continue to practise adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator, to become fluent through a variety of increasingly complex problems beyond one whole. *
14 sets of progressive differentiated worksheets to ensure your students develop all the skills needed to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with like denominators. They combine to create a smooth transition in the learning process from adding and subtracting fractions less than one to adding and subtracting mixed numbers, all with the same denominators.
The approach used here is as follows:
Firstly convert the mixed numbers to improper fractions.
Perform the addition or subtraction, essentially with the numerators of the improper fractions.
Convert the resultant improper fraction back to a mixed number.
As you can see in the list below there are some important additional interim steps included to make the process complete:
Set 1: Add 2 fractions with the sum < 1
Set 2: Add 3 fractions with the sum < 1
Set 3: Subtract with both fractions < 1
Set 4: Numerical questions: Addition & subtraction, all fractions and answers < 1
Set 5: Convert improper fractions to mixed numbers
Set 6: Convert mixed fractions to improper fractions Part 1: Whole number = 1
Set 7: Convert mixed fractions to improper fractions Part 2: Whole numbers from 1 to 4
Set 8: Numerical questions: Convert mixed fractions to improper fractions
Set 9: Add 2 fractions , each < 1 but their sum >1
Set 10: Numerical questions: Add 2 or 3 fractions with sum > 1
Set 11: Add 2 mixed numbers
Set 12: Subtract mixed numbers
Set 13: Numerical questions: Add 2 mixed numbers
Set 14: Numerical questions: Subtract mixed numbers
All the above, except where it states ‘Numerical questions’ , use visual fraction models.
Within all of the sets you have a choice of the level of questions. For the worksheets with the visual fraction models, you can decide on 3 levels how much information to provide. For the Numerical questions there are 2 levels where the range of denominators used are different, and in set 13 & 14 the range of whole numbers.
A little reminder on each Worksheet
At the top of all the worksheets using the visual fraction model there is an example shown as a memory jogger and as a teaching tool if needed.
How many Worksheets are there in total ?
In principle almost unlimited. The 14 sets and the 2 or 3 levels within each set you have over 35 to choose from. BUT on top of that, at the click of a button numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time which allows you to create new worksheets at the same level for extra practice or revision throughout the year or even give groups of pupils in your class different sets of questions.
An awareness of the relationship between number and quantity is essential for long term success with math and begins here in Kindergarten. Matching numbers and quantities of objects, counting on & finding ‘one more’ are covered here with Worksheets and Digit Teaching Resources.
Worksheet Sets
Set 1: Matching Quantity to a Number
Given numbers from 1 to 10, pupils color in the appropriate number of objects (Hedgehogs).
At the same time, they write in the numbers as they color, counting as they go along, connecting quantity, numbers and cardinality.
Set 2: One More …
Given a set of objects from 1 to 10, pupils have to write down the number that matches. There is space to write in the numbers as they count forward from 1.
They are then asked to write down the number that is ‘one more’ than the number of objects shown. The pupils are learning to ‘count on’ without the visual aid of an additional object.
Set 3: Matching Quantity to a Number up to 20
Pupils are given a quantity of objects and they must choose the correct answer from 3 numbers shown.
This Set of Worksheets has 3 levels:
-1 to 10 objects in each question
-1 to 20 objects in each question
-10 to 20 objects in each question
How many Worksheets are in each set ?
Lots and lots. There are 8 questions on a Worksheet. At the click of a button the numbers and their position on the Worksheets randomly change, so you can create lots of different pages for your pupils to practice with.
Answers are automatically generated every time.
Digital Teaching Material
These are designed to help you introduce the content of the worksheets to the whole class on an Interactive Whiteboard, or on a PC or Mac for 1-1 tuition and again you have (almost) unlimited examples to practice with.

This investigation looks into estimating the size of a large population of objects by taking samples and applying some basic mathematics. It encourages sharing of data, refining methods of collection of the data and discussions about the accuracy and limitations of the method used.
Jacob’s Method of counting large numbers of objects involves dividing a given area into equal size areas. Estimate (by counting) the population of one square then multiply this by the number of squares in the grid.
What happens if you use different size grids ? How do the estimates compare ? What happens if you take all the estimates in the class and find the range and mean ? How close are they all to the real number ? These and many more questions are laid out on the worksheet provided along with a number of prepared pictures with & without grids for printing or viewing on a computer.

Estimation Worksheet
A guide for the students on how to use Jacob’s Method and record the data.
A list of questions for discussion.
Estimation Crowds
Designed to be used as a starter with the student’s worksheet, it contains 2 crowds of different densities.
Pupils start with guessing the size of each crowd, then estimate with a 6 square grid & 24 square grid using Jacob’s Method.
**Estimation Samples **
14 pictures to choose from: crowds, stars, trees, bricks, flowers, balloons, birds in flight and more.
Pupils estimate with no grid, a 6 square grid & 24 square grid, and are encouraged to experiment further with other grid sizes of their own.
Estimation Sample 3
7 more pictures to choose from, but this time the distribution of the populations are not so even or regular, so its more challenging and opens up more questions.
They include a football crowd, bubbles, two other crowds, a shoal of fish and a herd of wilderbeast.
In all, lots of examples to practice with & food for lively discussion and critical thinking using basic math and could be taken further into investigating bias in crowd counting.
Note:
All the documents are printable.
To view the sample populations with the grids on a computer you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader on a PC or Mac.

Percentage Bar Graphs provide visual support to help introduce percentages in an informal way by building on the equivalence of 50%, 25% & 75% and their fractions 1/2, 1/4 & 3/4 plus the knowledge that 10% =1/10 and 1/10th of any multiple of 10 or 100 can easily be found by removing the last zero of the number.
From this starting point pupils can then proceed to calculate multiples of 5% or 1% of quantities.
The Worksheets and Teaching Pages are set at 5 levels
10%, 25%, 50%, & 75% of multiples of 100
10%,20%,30% …90%, of multiples of 10
10%,20%,30% …90% of multiples of 100
5%,10%,15% … 95% of multiples of 10
Any percentage of multiples of 100
Answers will always be whole numbers.
The Worksheets are Dynamic and the Teaching Pages Interactive so that at the click of a button the percentages and quantities are randomised providing endless opportunities to practice at each and every level.

These worksheets on the division of fractions and mixed numbers is a key focal point for bringing together a number of mathematical skills. It includes converting between fractions and mixed numbers, finding the largest factor of two numbers to aid with simplifying a fraction, and multiplying fractions to solve the division using the keep-change-flip as the core approach.
You have 9 Sets to choose from:
Dividing 2 Integers - introducing keep-change-flip in a simple context
Dividing an Integer by a Proper Fraction
Dividing a Proper Fraction by an Integer
Dividing 2 Proper Fractions
Dividing 2 Fractions (Proper and Improper)
Dividing a Mixed Number by an Integer

Word Problems
The Sets differentiated to accommodate various skill levels, allows learners to progress at their own pace and if needed repeat a level with a new set of questions as many times as is needed. Each Set progressively builds upon the skills learned in the previous one.
The key to mastering fraction division is practice and understanding the fundamental concept of reciprocals, which is at the core of the keep-change-flip strategy. The reason why this works is explained in the GUIDE, giving you the opportunity to give meaning to the strategy.
