French Prepositions of Location Reading Exercise and Writing Worksheet

(0)
As your students learn French prepositions of location it is nice to have several exercises and activities planned to get in as much practice as possible. This is a reading exercise about a tidy bedroom and a writing exercise about an untidy one. Give your students the list of French prepositions of location and provide them with the quizlet study set I’ve made to help them practice and master the new vocabulary. There is a paragraph to read about a tidy bedroom. The idea is to see if students can figure out what it means even if they don’t know all of the vocabulary. The prepositions of location are used as context clues. The next part of this activity is to have students write a paragraph of their own about the image provided featuring an untidy bedroom. A list of useful vocabulary is provided and a quizlet study set as well. This list of vocabulary itemizes everything you see in the bedroom so that students can focus on the writing activity rather than looking up words in the dictionary. Students write ten complete statements about the untidy bedroom. French Possessive Adjectives Jeopardy Game

I call this game “Jeopardy”, but it’s my own version that I’ve worked out the kinks on for the last 15 years of playing it with my students. This is not a Powerpoint presentation. You have to write out the game on your whiteboard. It’s not just like the game show on television, and the answers don’t have to be given in the form of a question, unless you want to. My students absolutely love this game, and so do I. They get very excited about it and look forward to Jeopardy day toward the end of every chapter. This game would be wonderful after having spent time learning possessive adjectives in French. This version of the game focuses on using possessive adjectives with family members. I’ve spent years working out the best way to play this game in a classroom setting, and it works so well that I went into a lot of detail in the instructions. The game includes 5 categories, daily doubles, and final jeopardy. If you have any questions at all about the game, please do feel free to ask. It’s time to learn possessive adjectives, and since they’re so different in French than in English, they can be tricky. I’ve put together a video in which I explain how to use possessive adjectives, how they are different than in English, and lots of examples. The pdf file is the same lesson, but in written form and with more examples and details. All rules and exceptions are carefully spelled out, and two exercises are included. The vocabulary I have chosen to focus on in the exercises is related to hotels.
