House and Home 20 questions games - No prep ESL speaking activities 4 versions of the game are included for a total of 208 vocabulary words. Have students work in pairs, small groups of 2-4, or project the version of the game that you want to use and do a whole class activity. Each version includes 52 house and home words. This resource includes a total of 208 words. Many of the words will likely be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice speaking and listening, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. Are you an object? Are you a room? Are you in the kitchen? Are you in the bedroom? Are you in the bathroom? …etc… The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: YES - NO - SOMETIMES - RARELY - USUALLY - MAYBE - IT DEPENDS - PROBABLY Alternative game play: To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it. This is a really fun activity to play with your students as they practice and build their house and home themed vocabulary. Students of all ages can play this vocabulary game. Players attempt to create answers for each of the four categories for each game on their game card. 4 game cards are included for a total of 12 games and 48 categories. This should be a fast moving game and there are only spaces for six words per category. The MAXIMUM they can write is six words so they have to choose them wisely. Students can be creative and flexible with their answers, but other players can challenge them! 12 games are included with 48 different categories! French regular IR verbs game - Quel Dommage! While teaching your students regular IR verbs in the present tense, they will have a great time practicing with this hands on game: QUEL DOMMAGE!! This is a review game in which the sentences are written with the infinitive form of verbs in parentheses. Students have to restate them using correct conjugations in the present tense. An answer key is provided so that students can check their work as they play. You could easily modify the game to be played in the passé composé or other tenses. Detailed instructions are included so that even when you need to have a sub, your students can practice regular IR verbs. All you have to do is print the game cards on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out. If you laminate them you’ll have a no prep activity ready to go for years to come! Put all of the game pieces in a box and divide your students into small teams. Give each team gets a box of questions and a copy of the answer key. Students must replace the verb in parentheses with the present tense conjugation and say the sentence correctly. When they are correct, they get to keep their game card. However, when they draw a QUEL DOMMAGE card they have to put all of their game cards back in the box. The student with the most game cards at the end is the winner. Included: 5 QUEL DOMMAGE cards - You don’t have to include them all in the game if you feel there are too many. 30 numbered game cards - Black and white and color versions provided. This is a really fun activity to play with your students as they practice and build their February themed vocabulary. Students of all ages can play this vocabulary game. Perfect for core and French immersion curriculums. Players attempt to create answers for each of the four categories for each game on their game card. 4 game cards are included for a total of 12 games and 48 categories. This should be a fast moving game and there are only spaces for six words per category. The MAXIMUM they can write is six words so they have to choose them wisely. Students can be creative and flexible with their answers, but other players can challenge them! 12 games are included with 48 different categories! Just print out the game sheets and you’re ready to go. For younger students you can allow more time for thinking and writing, while older students will love the challenge of the timer.
