When you are teaching or reviewing the French IMPERFECT - IMPARFAIT tense your students will have a great time practicing with this hands on game: QUEL DOMMAGE!! This is a review game in which students play by filling in the blanks with the correct form of the indicated verb in the imperfect tense. Most sentences on the cards include imperfect clue words like: d'habitude, souvent, toujours, etc. There is an answer key that students can use to check their work. Perfect supplement for core French, French immersion and homeschool curriculums.
Using the imperfect tense is essential to forming a strong base knowledge of French, yet it can be difficult to master without lots and lots of practice and review. You can pull this game out time and time again over the course of the years as a no-prep activity. Detailed instructions on how to play are included so that even subs can have your students play this fun game when you need to be away.
How to play QUEL DOMMAGE:
All you have to do is print the game cards on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out. If you laminate them you'll have a no prep activity ready to go for years to come! Put all of the game pieces in a box and divide your students into small teams. Give each team gets a box of questions and a copy of the answer key.
Students fill in the blanks with the correct conjugation of the indicated verb in the imperfect tense and say the sentence correctly. When they are correct (their opponents or team members can verify responses on the provided answer key), they get to keep their game card. However, when they draw a QUEL DOMMAGE card they have to put all of their game cards back in the box. The student with the most game cards at the end is the winner.
Included:
5 QUEL DOMMAGE cards - You don’t have to include them all in the game if you feel there are too many.
30 numbered game cards - Black and white and color versions provided.

Everyone loves a good game of BATTLESHIP, and the French classroom is a better place than any! You can use this classic game format to have your students practice the futur simple tense. This game is perfect for both core and immersion curriculums and everything written on the games is in French.
*There is not an answer key included with this resource due to the number of responses possible. I encourage you to allow your students to use a resource that you choose for them to check your answers.
Just print out one page of the version of this game that you want to use per student. Students place boats (which are squares on the game sheets that they will have darkened with a pencil) on the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats.
Subject pronouns are written in the vertical column and infinitives are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the imperfect tense. Another idea is to have students make simple sentences using the subject pronoun and verb of choice.
All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent.
This resource includes 5 versions of the game with both black and white and color copies and instructions on how to play.

Different ways to use these cards

Scoot game instructions
Scoot recording sheet
30 questions listed on one side of a page to use as an easy handout
There are many ways you can use this set of task cards:
➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions.
➤ Project the pdf file in class to work in group or with your whole class and avoid printing.
➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.
➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements.
➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.
➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.
➤ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized.
➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.
➤ Use the cards as an icebreaker activity.
➤ Great resource for tutoring sessions and vocabulary building.

French CATCH PHRASE Speaking Game
Catch Phrase is a fun game to get your students speaking and having fun in French while learning tons of new vocabulary words. This game doesn't follow any particular theme, so the 80 playing cards display 80 unrelated words - a fantastic way to round out your students' speaking skills! This game is only in French and is suitable for both core and immersion curriculums.
This game is a lot like the TABOO game, but there are no taboo words. Each game card shows the word in question in French along with an image to illustrate it.
This product includes:
How to play

80 playing cards in black and white
File showing one card per page to project for all class activity
The game is played in two teams. The goal for each player is to get their team to say the word or word phrase displayed on the game card. One member of a team starts a timer for 5 minutes and tries to get his or her team to guess the displayed word or phrase.
A clue-giver can make any physical gesture and give almost any verbal clue, but may not say a word that rhymes with any of the words, give the first letter of a word, say the number of syllables, or say part of any word in the clue.
When the team guesses correctly, the other team takes the stack of cards and takes its turn. Play continues until the timer runs out. The team not holding the stack of cards when time runs out scores a point. They also have one chance to guess the word or phrase, with team members allowed to confer; a correct answer earns a bonus point. The first team to score 7 points wins.
