This resource includes a worksheet with a blank grid for students to create their own word search. Eleven colors are written on the sheet. When they’ve finished making it they can exchange with another student and solve each solve the puzzle made by their classmate. 3 ready-made word searches are included. You can choose which one to give your students as each one is of a different level of difficulty. I like to print the ready-made search that I want to use on one side of a paper, and print the make your own version on the other side. I have used this resource with 8 year old students as well as 14 year olds ESL students. The basic puzzle is suitable for grades 1 and 2. Words are hidden across and down only. The intermediate puzzle is suitable for grades 3 and 4. Words are hidden across, down and diagonally. The advanced puzzle is suitable to grades 5+.
