My class loved this book and we achieved 6 fantastic weeks of learning! They loved the fact that we didn't read the whole book and it took 4 weeks to do this! It opened up a fantastic amount of learning and the book allowed for lots of SPaG work.

My class developed a love of Winnie the Witch and so I created these plans to fuel their learning. They loved every moment of this topic and we were able to include the use of imperative verbs into our learning. The children loved the idea of creating their own spells and potions. Year 1 class written for but can be used in reception or year 2. Great ideas can be linked to forest school experiences too!

A great book to use which helps children understand time and number. A total of 15 lesson with accompanying activities and posters to help. The children loved the book especially as we read a page a day!

In preparation for the year 1 phonics test, I created these for my class to become familiar with words that sound the same but have different spelling patterns. There are 8 games in total.

A unit of work based on the national curriculum units - Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use of the language of equal to, more than, less than, most, least. Given a number identify one more and one less. A selection of resources that go with it explaining fluency, reasoning and problem solving.

A unit of lessons based on the traditional tale Jack and the Beanstalk and then follow up lessons based on Jim and the Beanstalk. Total of 14/16 lessons as some lessons take longer than others. Such as the story writing parts.

My children struggled with the structure of the phonics books and so I have compiled a selection of books that follow the principle of the phonic screening checks. My class love them and they are much more familiar with the phonic check then previously.

I was finding that my children were struggling with the concept of the phonics booklets for the year 1 test. I therefore created a set of 8 booklets for the children to use as practice for the real thing! They have loved the booklets and enjoyed challenging themselves as there are some tricky words in there. I have also included in some of them year 1 common exception words.

A three day plan with activities and presentations for one more and one less. There are differentiated activities. Planned for year 1 spring term.

A presentation and differentiated worksheets to meet the objective of adding 1-digit or 2-digit numbers to 20. There is a blank example to add your own numbers. Cut the equations up and then screw up into a popcorn pieces for the children to open and then glue into their books. My children loved it!

A simple set of bingo games that you can use during guided reading, phonics sessions etc. Each bingo board has a nonsense word highlighted by an alien picture.

5 x snakes and ladders games with nonsense words on for children to decode as they play.

A collection of worksheets based on a weeks work on ordering numbers and finding one more and one less. Could be used in connection with spicy challenges.

A powerpoint explaining the history of Chester Zoo and the founder, linking in to exploring local history in the Cheshire, North West area. Included is a timeline of some of the animals for the children to cut out and stick into the correct order. Two ability levels.

When a child completes a colour book band, reward them with these monster certificates. My class love receiving them and collecting them all.
