A fun lesson which is great for KS3 pupils. Starter is a game of taboo based on monsters. A range of descriptive writing examples included to model to pupils. Then move on to a focused piece of writing based on a spooky house. Fun & easily adaptable!

A lesson which can easily be adapted for both KS3 and KS4. A range of story openings included which then allows pupils to see that there are several ways in which to begin a story in a more interesting way. Pupils are then tasked with creating their own opening using a ideas sheet included as well. Very simple and easy to follow.

A lesson which focuses on analysing the poem. The questions asked ensure the pupils are able to break down a particularly tricky poem and get to grips with the language of it. Homework task included as well.

Two lessons which focus on answering an exam style question, on writing to argue,for the Eduqas Specification. Lesson includes: 1) Handy phrases to include in an argument 2) Mark Scheme 3) Two different examples responses - one higher level, one lower. The pupils mark both and discuss what mark they would give and why. Worked really well with my year 11 class but can also be used and adapted for year 10 if they are studying the spec.

A lesson which looks at developing an understanding of the poem in a deeper way. Lot of higher level questions, an example response and a handy peer-assessment key included. Colourful and engaging. Can easily be used to aid the Eduqas Poetry Anthology specification or for any War Poetry Modules.

This lesson involves the pupils using their inference and deduction skills based on Chapter 10 of Oliver Twist. Instead of reading it, they will be given a list of statements from particular characters to figure out what exactly happened and who they think robbed the Old Gentleman. Worked very well with a middle ability year 8 class and they loved using their prior knowledge of the characters to help them figure out the investigation.

This lesson aims to get pupils to plan Jane and Mr. Rochester's wedding based on what they know about the characters and their personalities. Tasks include using music to set the tone, figuring out suspects & keeping to a budget for their wedding plan. PowerPoint can be printed and used as the 'wedding planning' brochure and worksheet included.

This lesson aims to examine Mr. Rochester's personality in a fun, colourful way and also includes the interesting concept of 'Phrenology'. Worksheet included.

An analysis lesson focusing on the infamous balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet. Group work stations analysing: 1) Light references 2) Juliet's confidence/naivety 3) Religious imagery 4) Foreshadowing Worked very well with a high ability year 9 class and the feedback from each station is on the PowerPoint as well to make it incredibly easy to follow, adapt and edit.

An engaging, fun and creative lesson for year 7 but can be easily adapted for all ages. Pirate map, pirate music, drawing, sharing, peer and self-assessing all within the PowerPoint.

A handy, colourful booklet created to ensure pupils have something easy to revise from. They were asked to find key quotations for character/theme. Can be done each lesson whilst studying the novel or be given to them to do independently.
