A range of story openings included which then allows pupils to see that there are several ways in which to begin a story in a more interesting way. Pupils are then tasked with creating their own opening using a ideas sheet included as well. Very simple and easy to follow.

Two lessons which focus on answering an exam style question, on writing to argue,for the Eduqas Specification. Lesson includes: 1) Handy phrases to include in an argument 2) Mark Scheme 3) Two different examples responses - one higher level, one lower. The pupils mark both and discuss what mark they would give and why. Worked really well with my year 11 class but can also be used and adapted for year 10 if they are studying the spec.

This lesson involves the pupils using their inference and deduction skills based on Chapter 10 of Oliver Twist. Instead of reading it, they will be given a list of statements from particular characters to figure out what exactly happened and who they think robbed the Old Gentleman. Worked very well with a middle ability year 8 class and they loved using their prior knowledge of the characters to help them figure out the investigation.
