A paired activity for students, that uses a piece of stimulus material which lacks either AO2 application (Dave Appleby's answer) or AO3 analysis (Annalise L’Mited’s answer). Students review the answer and associated teacher notes to identify what is wrong with the answer, and to use this to rewrite it with the missing analyis / application with the aim of arriving at GAP/GAN. The stimulus material is based on a 40m Section B essay question. One argument is provided and after development can be used to develop counter points and ultimately a final conclusion.

Effective People Management Project

A project based resource for EDEXCEL GCSE Business (2009) Unit 3, Topic 4 - Effective Project Management, although I am sure it works for all new specs pending small edits. An extended project designed to be completed in 7-8 hours as both class and homework tasks, this also revises Unit 1 Recruitment, Training and Motivation. The focus is the application of HR topics to a students own imagined SME with 15-20 employees. The project includes flipped learning of all Unit 3 Topic 4 content, although this can be modified (Task Sheet is in word format to allow you to edit) which is reinforced with nine activities that contextualise the topics into the students imagined business. Activities include; Sort card recruitment process Creating a simple Job Description and Person Spec for a new starter Identification of how that role will be trained on and off the job Creating an organisation structure for the company Identifying the motivational needs of the workers (Maslow) Identification of key communication concepts for a chosen staff member Creation of a twitter conversation to illustrate barriers to communication Development of a remuneration package for two contrasting employees Notes: I have not included the text book extracts referred to due to copyright - but have included web links that cover the key aspects. The timeframe you will no doubt want to edit - so I have highlighted this yellow on the first page of the worksheet to draw your attention to it.
