I have bundled together three resources which I think will prove useful for general revision purposes concerning spelling, punctuation and grammar. These resources could be used to test knowledge and understanding and to highlight areas needing improvement.Used regularly these resources will help to highlight those topics in need of improvement.
This resource has three revision mixes of grammar and punctuation exercises as well as three worksheets on homophones. These could be used for general revision purposes or set as homework tasks. Pupils attempt to improve sentences and make them more interesting, substitute more powerful verbs, identify prepositions etc. They are required to write descriptive paragraphs such as describing a friend, an ideal bedroom or a favourite animal. Colour synonyms need to be sorted into groups. The intention here is to widen and improve vocabulary choices.
Suitable for ages 10+
This resource revises the use of the colon and semicolon. Pupils are reminded how each are used and then given a series of sentences in which they need to insert the necessary punctuation. Sometimes they decide between the two. Lengthy, complicated lists are also given so that pupils need to decide how to break them up with semicolons. The sentences should be written out as the subject material is useful for revision regarding history, geography, literature, poetry and world religions.
I include a more general spelling, punctuation and grammar quiz which features semi-colons in one of the sections.I also include a worksheet which will promote the use of a wider variety of punctuation and offers an opportunity for pupils to describe a person they admire.

Suitable for ages 12+
This animated Power Point has three humorous poems about Dads. One describes a Dad for every day of the week; another describes a Dad who is a super hero (but only up until 6pm when he relaxes into his slippers); the third suggests Dad is less than fragrant and could make birds fall from trees cross-eyed from the stench of his cheesy feet. A foot-note is added by Joe who can’t decide what to buy for Dad and needs assistance writing out his shopping list. Answer is included. A chocolate themed crossword is included which will appael to fans of Roald Dahl.

There is a weirdly worded passage to re-write featuring Joe who is wondering what to buy his Dad for Father's Day. Included is a poem about a super hero Dad whose super powers slip away after 6pm.
This resource will provide good humoured revision material as we approach mid June. All answers are provided.
Suitable for ages 10+
This resource is ideal for Father’s Day and has two poems describing dads. One dad has extremely smelly feet that stink of gorgonzola and stale underwear. The other poem describes Dad as more of a super hero type who is earth-quaking, nerve-shaking and fast talking (but only before 6pm.). Pupils will enjoy the humour and vivid imagery within the poems and will be inspired to think of adjectives that describe their own father’s finest qualities. They are asked to think of a special memory about their Dad and perhaps create their own poetry in celebration of Father’s Day.

This resource is ideal for Father's Day and includes a poem about a super hero Dad who loses his heroic powers after 6pm. The fast-talking, dog-walking, all-knowing Dad becomes more of the cocoa-drinking, sock-stinking kind of guy we all know and love. Pupils can think of how their own father resembles a super hero and they are asked to supply six adjectives to describe his best qualities.
Suitable for all ages and superhero fans.
This resource is a chocolate themed crossword. The clues lead to names of famous chocolaty treats. When these are entered on the crossword the highlighted letters will give ten letters which when re-arranged will give the name of a Roald Dahl character. Children can then write about a day out with their Dad for Father’s Day and also invent a chocolate bar just for him. Answers are provided.

This resource is a story about a King who does not listen to his adviser's words, whilst watching a spectacle involving a talented magician. The adviser proves in the end that through sheer hard work and consistent effort, he deserves his freedom from the dungeon. He uses his own words to prove a point.
Pupils answer questions involving retrieving information from the text, making inferences, explaining writer's choices and composing an extended answer advising a friend who is struggling with their schoolwork.
This is a resource which would be useful at this time of year when trying to encourage a good work ethic and improve performance.

Suitable for ages 7+
This resource is displayed in landscape view and is a poem about a Dad whose smelly feet are legendary. Birds stop singing and drop cross-eyed from their perch and Alsatians cover their noses from the terrible stench of Dad's cheesy feet. Pupils can draw their favourite image from the poem and then create their own version specific to their own father. They are asked to think of six things they most admire about their father and also to recall a favourite memory, perhaps where their father inspired them with confidence to do something.
This resource is ideal for National Poetry week activities and is suitable for all ages.

This Power Point uses persuasive writing techniques to inform us of the dangers of global warming. Pupils are asked to retrieve information and identify specific techniques from the text in a series of related questions. They are asked to design a poster outlining four simple things we could do to slow down global warming. Anagrams of key words from the text need to be solved. Useful links are given to promote further investigation.
This resource will support research about pollution, global warming and climate change. Ideal for promoting discussion and independent research.I include a word document about polar bears and how they are adapted to the Arctic environment. Pupils are asked to consider the dangers polar bears face and to question whether global warming is the only issue. Is there more we could do to help them?Moreover, I include a Planet Patrol puzzle which contains over twenty interlocked words concerning conservation issues which could be easily differentiated according to ability. This Power Point tests knowledge of proper nouns. Pupils need to identify names, places and things which classify as proper nouns and add capital letters appropriately within sentences and also within a lengthier passage about Victorian theatre.Included is a more general spelling , grammar and punctuation quiz in which proper nouns is just one of the topics covered. This resource accompanies a Power Point presentation which can be found in my shop but could also be used without it. It tests pupils' knowledge about the firefly squid and their understanding of bioluminescence including photophore cells. It gives pupils the opportunity to unscramble key words from the text and to go further with their own research about oceans with specific reference to Japan.
This resource would be useful for World Oceans Day but could also be used for any investigation into sea-life and ocean phenomena.

This resource accompanies a Power Point about poetry but can be used without it.
Pupils have to solve clues to find poetic devices such as alliteration , imagery and metaphor. These can then be located in an interlocking grid. There are twenty eight words to find in total.
This resource is intended for revision purposes and is suitable for all examination boards.
I include puzzles which will aid the revision of Romantic poets such as Keats as well as Shakespeare.
This power Point takes extracts from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, removes the punctuation, and asks the audience to rewrite the paragraphs inserting the necessary capital letters and punctuation marks to bring them back to life again.Pupils will need to consider paragraphing, capital letters and question marks. They will need to insert speech marks and apostrophes for contractions. They will need to think about starting a new line when a different character begins speaking. The perfected passages do magically appear and will inspire pupils to read and explore further for themselves. Formal and informal letters are looked at from the hand of J.K.Rowling and pupils are asked to write either a formal or informal letter for themselves. The formal letter explains why Harry Potter is to be expelled from Hogwarts; the informal letter is written by Harry himself explaining to his beloved Snuffles about the terrible week he's been having at Hogwarts.Pupils are given a further task of inviting either Neville, Draco or Hermione to a special event at their own school and are asked to consider why they wish this character in particular to attend.
This resource is intended to support the practice of perfecting punctuation in a fun way and also examine the skills of letter writing. Pupils will be inspired to read more widely from J K Rowling's novels, whilst also revising their writing skills.

This Power Point takes extracts from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, removes all traces of punctuation and asks readers to re-write Rowling's words adding the necessary capital letters etc
The intention is that students will have to focus carefully on the passages and use their knowledge and understanding of punctuation to bring the extracts back to life. The correct versions will magically appear. Comprehension questions based on the extracts follow and opportunities for further reading and creative writing are provided.
This activity will appeal to Potter fans and give a novel twist to revision.
This Power Point resource takes extracts from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and asks pupils to identify deliberate spelling errors in the text. The words are everyday words but the passages will inspire discussion, further reading and creative writing. The correct answers will magically appear. Pupils will need to use their comprehension skills to answer the questions at the end. There is an extended writing exercise where pupils need to decide what they would fix if they had their own roll of Spellotape . There is an exercise to do involving choosing the correct homophone from the brackets to make the sentences correct. There is also a task in which pupils are required to substitute more powerful verbs in order to make the passage more dramatic. Included is a comprehension about ancient broomstick games played around the world which will appeal to those interested in Quidditch.
This resource is one of many to be found in my shop and will appeal to Potter fans. Prior knowledge of the book is not necessary but the aim is to encourage pupils to explore further into this world of magic.
