0 - 10 Number fan Rainbow with number names

(0)
What’s included? This download includes four A4, portrait pdf sheets to make number fans featuring numerals AND number names from 0 to 10, ‘zero’ to ‘ten’. Each number is a different colour - in rainbow colour order… The number and number name colours match, e.g. ‘1’ is the same colour as the number name ‘one’. How to use this resource Number fans can be used in a variety of situations including on-the-carpet questioning with the whole class/smaller groups where pupils can show their answers instead of speaking. Number fans can be used as a personal reference resource for learners e.g. to help count and order numbers and/or cross-check the correct orientation of individual numbers if unsure when writing. Number fans can also be used for a variety of games and to accompany and involve learners during counting rhymes and songs, usable both inside the classroom and outdoors. The rainbow colours may help some learners not yet confident with number recognition, who know colours. E.g. if you ask, ‘Can you show me number three?’ - this could be followed by ‘Can you show me number three, the orange number word? Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Suggestion I recently purchased some brightly coloured plastic keyrings which can be easily opened by unclipping the plastic. These could be ideal should you wish learners to access the contents of the ring e.g. to order the numbers and come in a variety of colours. Alternatively I have found standard metal keyrings also work well as a more permanent ‘holder’ of the contents threaded onto the keyring. I recommend that each number is laminated before punching a hole and threading onto a keyring - this is included in the instructions on the pdf. Important message… ANY issues with this number fan please don’t hesitate to let me know - I am happy to make changes AND I am happy to create a new resource if you have an idea just let me know - I’d really love to hear from you! Feedback of this number fan resource would be wonderful! Thank you!

This resource is ideal for learners with additional learning needs. How to use it? Each learner matches the ‘grapheme’ and 'picture’ cards as pairs. Learners then place these cards together on the ‘matching mats’ where the full word (for every picture) is typed out for learners to sound out and read. Resource Details… ALL images featured here have been chose because they CAN be sounded out in the order that the Phase 2 sounds have been learnt. This yellow ‘Set 3’ includes words which all contain the sounds from sets 1, 2 and 3 - this includes s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b. The same design resource for ALL letters in Phase 2 are also available in my TES shop! The words included are listed here: Set 3 ck - duck (first ‘end’ sound here so may catch out some learners) e - egg (double ‘gg’ may be an issue though of course the ‘g’ letters together only have one ‘g’ sound) u - up (escalator - arrow indicates this) r - rat (not to be confused with ‘mouse’ !) h - hen (not to be confused with ‘chicken’ !) b - bag Special request ANY issues with any of this please don’t hesitate to let me know - I am happy to make changes AND I am happy to create a new resource if you have an idea just let me know - I’d love to hear from you! Feedback would be wonderful! Thank you!

Phase 2 Grapheme/Picture Matching cards with answers

What’s included? x5 sheets (x4 sets of cards and answers) for Phase 2 split into x4 activity sets. Portrait orientation, pdf format Who’s it for? This ‘Phase 2’ phonics practise activity set has been designed to be a simple activity to consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for groups/individuals to be getting on with independently and/or for learners to revisit these sounds with an adult. This resource has been designed for Early Years children, pupils in Year 1 who need some sound practise/reinforcement or learners with additional learning needs. How to use it? Each learner is to match the ‘grapheme’ and 'picture’ cards. There are four colour coded sets to help limit options and make the different sets clear to help with organisation. Resource Details… Phase 2 is split into four sets, one set per sheet. Not all phonemes are ‘initial’ letters (in sets 3 and 4 here) - so learners may need this pointing out before working with these. Although the focus of this activity is the ‘sound’ (only) ALL images featured here have been chose because they CAN be sounded out in the order that the Phase 2 sounds have been learnt. The red set (with the exception of ‘nest - which contains an ‘e’ from set 3) are all words which contain the sounds s, a, t, p, i, n. I have designed additional resources to extend learning, including reading and writing words only using sounds in Phase 2. These are available in my TES shop. The answers are listed here: Set 1 s - stamp a - ant t - tap p - pan i - ink n - nest (contains ‘e’ - introduced later, with set 3) Set 2 m - map d - dog g - gift (contains ‘f’ ‘ introduced later, with set 4) o - octagon (although this is a longer word it can be sounded out using sounds from sets 1 and 2. IF learners know this 2D shape) c - cat k - kit (e.g. football/PE kit) Set 3 ck - duck (first ‘end’ sound here so may catch out some learners) e - egg (double ‘gg’ may be an issue though of course the ‘g’ letters together only have one ‘g’ sound) u - up (escalator - arrow indicates this) r - rat (not to be confused with ‘mouse’ !) h - hen (not to be confused with ‘chicken’ !) b - bag Set 4 f - frog ff - daffodil (‘middle’ sound may catch out some learners) Learners will need to know this particular flower or may just associate this image with ‘flower’ (for ‘f’) l - lemon ll - bell (‘end’ sound may catch out some learners) ss - grass (‘end’ sound may catch out some learners) Recommendations I recommend printing these resources onto card rather than paper to help improve durability. I’ve recently purchased a ‘corner cutter’ which gives beautiful smooth, curved edges - these card corners are radius size 18. I used size R7 for square cards (corners) and size R4 for larger ‘answer’ cards. The corners of the answer cards are size R10.

Correcting Sentences, reading and writing

(0)
What’s included? This download includes four A4, portrait pdf sheets to practise reading and writing to correct x8 simple sentences. Every sentence has x3 mistakes to correct. The last two pages include the same sentences with every mistake made clear. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details Pages 1 and 2 both include x4 sentences, each in a separate box, illustrated with a simple image on the right. Both pages include the same instructions at the top - making it clear to learners that there are x3 mistakes in each sentence and what these mistakes might be. Mistakes may be spellings, capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. There is a clear space for learners to write their name at the base of both pages. The words included and spelling errors make the level of this activity aimed at learners who are learning Phase 5 phonics. Sentences include words containing Phase 5 sounds (ea, ay, a-e, aw, ph) as well as a knowledge of common high frequency words including she, you, his, are, and, said, see, their, not, with, at, the, to, do, that, can, in, loved, dad. The pictures provide clues to assist reading unfamiliar words (e.g. lions, zoo, sheep, lambs, chicken, grapes, bake) to encourage learners to use a range of reading skills when decoding these sentences if they are not at a level to read them on-sight. Pages 3 and 4 clearly show the answers in exactly the same format to encourage learners to be autonomous in checking their own learning. Each mistake is circled in pink and corrected clearly underneath to make clear to learners exactly where and what each mistake was. Important message… ANY issues with any of this please don’t hesitate to let me know - I am happy to make changes AND I am happy to create a new resource if you have an idea just let me know - I’d love to hear from you! Feedback of this resource would be wonderful! Thank you!

Data Handling 'Skittles' sorting, counting

What’s included? This download includes seven A4, portrait pdf sheets to practise counting objects, sorting (colours) and data handling - transferring the information collected to a clear, simple bar chart. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details There are x7 sheets in total. Two sets of x3 - a colour and black and white version of the same resource plus a sheet of ‘paper Skittles’ to cut up and sort/count (if you don’t want to risk your learners eating their learning!) This activity is organised around one random amount (portion) of Skittles - each learner will need their own portion. Learners could be given a real Skittles or ‘paper/cardboard Skittles’. On the bar chart there is space for up to x16 Skittles of one colour so the amount of Skittles given to learners can be any number to fit their ability, however no more than x16 of any one colour group if you intend for learners to use the bar chart (pages 3/5). Page 1 Learners are to sort their portion of Skittles into x5 colour groups (red, orange, yellow, green and purple). Learners then count the number of Skittles in each group and write the total in each colour group ‘total’ box. Page 2 Using the information recorded on page 1 learners then transfer this information to the simple, clear bar chart. Learners can colour the same number of ‘colour’ boxes for each colour group of Skittles. Page 3 Using the information gathered through completing the activities on pages 1 and 2 the questions on page 3 are related to the same number (portion) of Skittles. All colour-names are printed clearly at the top of page 3 so that learners don’t need to think about colour-word spellings. Questions are related to ‘most’, ’least’, ’the same’, ’the difference between’, ’odd’ and ‘even’ numbers. Important message… ANY issues with any of this please don’t hesitate to let me know - I am happy to make changes AND I am happy to create a new resource if you have an idea just let me know - I’d love to hear from you!
