This (7+ page) timeline is for the British Empire section of the Edexcel A Level History exam. However, it is rather limited in terms of information. It should only be used as a final resource for testing yourself on dates once you know everything. It could also do with a lot more information in the columns. Perhaps you can do something better with it than I did! PS: The thumbnail is only the first page!

A seven-page document including some key facts/knowledge/evidence to have for Section C for the Germany exam for Edexcel A Level History. These facts formed the bulk of my arguments, but make sure you have done detailed work in understanding the perspectives of particular historians, as you will probably have to analyse a source in the exam.

This is an example IRP for the speaking component of the Edexcel German A-Level. It consists of some resources and the student’s 10 findings from them, relating to theme of Anglizismen im Deutschen. This resource shows a number of facts and figures, as well as an example introduction which is typically given to the examiner at the beginning of the oral exam.

A collection of essay plans for Edexcel A Level History Paper 1 (Germany). This collection includes six essays on the Federal Republic of Germany, answering the following questions: “‘The postwar economic history of Germany was one of constant success.’ How far do you agree with this statement?” “How far do you agree that the Federal Republic faced severe economic challenges in the years 1965–83?” “How accurate is it to say that the successive governments of the FRG were stable and successful from 1965-89?” “How far was the Basic Law responsible for the creation of a stable political base in the years 1949-89?” “How accurate is it to say that there was little effective opposition to the political system of the FRG between 1949 and 1989?” “How successful were the Chancellors following Adenauer in maintaining political stability from 1966-89?”

For AQA A Level English Language Paper 1: Language, the Individual and Society. This model answer achieved 68/70 (A*) and answered the practice questions on the topic of “Rudeness”. These are attached. The rights to the articles themselves belong to their respective owners, and the file is only in the pack for reference.

A collection of five essays written for Edexcel A Level History Paper 1 (Germany). The collection includes the following five essay questions: “How significant was the outbreak of war in 1939 to the treatment of ethnic minorities in the period of Nazi rule in 1933-45?” “Considering the years 1936-1945, how far was Nazi Government transformed by war?” “‘Chaotic and inefficient’: How far do you agree with this assessment of Nazi Government from 1933-42?” “How significant was Hitler’s leadership to the success of the Nazi consolidation of power 1933-41?” “How far do you agree that the survival of Hitler’s dictatorship 1933-45 was due to his removal of opposition?”

This (20 page!) document includes most of (not all!) the key knowledge you should know for the FRG segment of the Germany unit. I used it to create flashcards, and it worked quite well. If you can, try to find things to add to it so it becomes even more useful for you! Use it for consolidation after doing the topics too. The way it’s structured is a little bit strange, but you can always change it!

This opinion article was written as coursework for the 2019 series A-Level exams. It scored highly on style, and the student has done their research in attempting to use language which appeals to a conservative readership, as the article was to be written in the style of The Telegraph.

Another 40-page document outlining the key facts for the Italy exam! This time with memes. I will say that I didn’t do as well on the Italy exam primarily because the question was on the late 1920s, which I didn’t have as much to say on. I would recommend expanding on that section if you get the chance - perhaps it’s because I didn’t have any memes to help me remember.

This extended model answer discusses the cause of the First World War. It achieved 90% when submitted. There are of course areas for improvement, but it provides a good example of what is expected.

Commentary and opinion article written for the AQA A-Level English Language NEA component. Scored over 85%.

This (40+ page!) document includes key information in all areas of the third A Level History paper for Edexcel, British Empire. It is divided as follows: America, Australia, Canada, India, Egypt, Navy & Trade, Role of the Navy It could be used quite well as a starting point for making flashcards, since most of the key facts are there. The later subjects are divided more into “Essay-type” notes, since for some topics there are only 2-3 essay questions which can be asked (e.g. Egypt), but don’t let this fool you! Make sure you revise EVERY topic! For my exams, India came up for a THIRD year in a row, and you can imagine how everyone felt after saying “It won’t come up again” and didn’t revise it.

This model answer forms part of the AQA English Language A-Level coursework component, where students are encouraged to carry out their own language investigation. This answer investigates second language acquisition. It attains full marks: 50/50.
