The resources that I am sharing I have used successfully as a Primary Tutor to develop learning, understanding and confidence with individual students. They can also be used for group work. To keep my teaching skills sharp and to continue to develop my understanding of the curriculum, I also work as a Supply Teacher. Before becoming a Tutor I was a Senior Leader in a large Primary school holding the position of Assess Co-ordinator; I have also been a Year Leader and a SENCO.

Link the Words

(0)
This activity uses high frequency words and encourages the individual student to read the words and then write their own sentence. As they use the word the student shades the box the word is in. As a challenge the student can try to use words that are touching the last word they used so that the words link. I have used this activity successfully with a student who is a reluctant writer.

Two Phonic Activities - ow/ou and magic e

(0)
I created the splat activity resource for a student who was having difficulty in knowing when to use ou and ow in spellings. The activity itself can be easily adapted to other spellings and I first came across it as a game for teaching the multiplication tables. The second activity I created to revise magic e spellings with an older student, using the National Curriculum KS2 spelling list to identify words that use magic e. The activity can be used with any spelling list or text. It could also be sued as an independent individual or group learning activity.
