This 61 page booklet (including answers) contains new GCSE style reading, writing, speaking and translation questions for Key Stage 3 students. The booklet contains activities on the topics of ‘technology in everyday life’ and ‘free-time activities’, from the AQA theme Identity and Culture. There are 6 subtopics: Technology in everyday life, sports, TV/film, music, eating out, and festivals. For each of these subtopics, there are 6 activities: a reading task, translation (short paragraph) from French into English, sentences to translate from English into French, a writing task (short passage similar to the foundation writing exam), a photo (like in the foundation writing exam) and a role-play. There are also 6 extension activities which bring together all of the subtopics: a longer reading task, a paragraph translation from English into French, a 90-word task, a 150-word task and a photo card (like in the speaking exam). This booklet can be used in KS3 or for revision in KS4 (foundation). It can either be used to supplement work in lessons as you teach the topics of technology and free-time, or for assessments. Ideal for revision and in-class work for Key Stage 4 or as a stretch and challenge activity for Key Stage 3 students. This resource contains 12 open response questions (40-50 word reviews) for the new French GCSE (first exams 2026), complete with model answers. It is a downloadable resource, in both Word Document and PDF formats. I have covered as many of the topic areas for the new Edexcel French GCSE as possible (see accompanying photo of the contents list for details) – however, topics are limited to what can feasibly used as reviews in this context and some topics have more than one example question, such as food and drink or accommodation. In the model answers, I have only used vocabulary that is included in the prescribed vocab list for Foundation, to ensure that students can practise using the key language needed for this GCSE.

Covering all of the possible topic areas for the new Edexcel French GCSE (see accompanying photo of the contents list for details), I have carefully selected a range of photos that showcase diversity and inclusion, from royalty-free websites, such as Pixabay, Unsplash (and Unsplash+), and Nappy.co. In the model answers, I have only used vocabulary that is included in the prescribed vocab list for Foundation, to ensure that students can practise using the key language needed for this GCSE.
