I'm flying - exciting writing sheet + inspiring picture

I’m ___ ing and ___ ing, like a __ , this poem starts, with a long, wavy line down the page for children to take off and fly with their ideas. The accompanying colour sketch will inspire ideas. EXAMPLE: I’m sailing and gliding, like a leaf in the wind, free as the air and merry as sunshine… But now I’m tipping and tilting, like a boat on a rough sea. I’m spinning, spiralling, loop-the-looping. I’m a circus acrobat, vaulting the air… and now calmly cruising the fine, silky skies again. Supports literacy, including vocabulary, writing fluency and encouragement, also weather, travel and transport studies. **SEE ALSO - ** LAND OF L… magic land alliteration game - https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/land-of-l-creative-alliteration-fun-12031118 .

Simple picture-poem to write - Clouds are...

(0)
Emergent and newly independent writers will enjoy thinking up describing words to write on the swirly, little lines on their cloud. Think up some together first, e.g. - fluffy, puffy, white, grey, floaty, soft, light, high, drifting, quiet, slow, pink, dark, stormy, woolly, silky, silver, whirly, swirly or candy floss. Here’s a published poem of mine about clouds on YouTube: https://youtu.be/EOKVIktMh10 Let children sound out the words, whether or not correctly, to sustain flow and build confidence. The wind went... exciting writing sheet

(0)
A thrilling picture-poem to write on a windy day. Writing on wavy, whirling lines, children can express their sound and action ideas, with the starter line: ‘The wind went…’ Examples: whirling, roaring, racing, howling, moaning, whooshing, rushing, spiralling, pushing, tugging, bullying, teasing, buffeting, sailing, dancing, soaring, boom, shriek, rumble, mutter, flutter, whimper… ‘over the mountain tops’. Opportunities for personification, onomatopoeia, and exciting action words. Similes could be added below the lines, e.g. howling like a wolf. **SEE ALSO: ** - Sunshine poetry - https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/sunshine-poetry-sun-similes-illustrated-12100615 , Clouds writing - https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/clouds-poetry-writing-frame-guided-ks1-11974732, Stormy sea similes - https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/stormy-sea-poetry-frame-guide-12043779 .
