32X cards that can be used to revise figurative language / persuasive language techniques including: Similes Metaphors Alliteration Onomatopoeia Idiom Oxymoron Sarcasm Irony Direct Address Facts Opinions Rhetorical Question Repetition Emotive Language Statistics Triples ( Rule of Three) There are statements on 2X cards each, which use one of the techniques above. These cards were created so that my learners could play a ‘match a pair’ game. Turn all of the cards over on the table. Get the learners to take it in turns to turn over two cards, if the statements match the technique then they ‘win’ that pair of cards. If they don’t match, then they turn them back over and another player gets to choose two cards. Continue until all the cards are matched. These can also be used as flash cards or revision cards and the cards are double sided, with a colourful polka dot design on the opposite side. Also attached, are a set of cards ( buyer to cut out) with each of the following persuasive devices names written on them. You can get your learners to place the correct statement cards under each of these headings.

This is a 31 page PowerPoint which can be used as an introduce your class to Dennis Kelly’s play DNA. The PPT contains eight separate options that can be used as an introductory lesson to the play. The students are to make predictions about what the play is about and what happens in the play. Front book cover analysis with 9 questions to answer relating to the front cover. Taboo - a word, guessing relating to the play. The objective of the game is for a student to sit with their back to the interactive whiteboard. The other students give the student clues and they have to guess the word on the board behind them. Word Scramble - Instead of the teacher giving students a short summary of the play, students will be asked to find this out for themselves by unscrambling the letters on the board. First Lines - Students will make predictions to what the play is about by reading and analysing the first few lines and answering 6 set questions. Students will watch a short news report which relates to the topic of the play. They will then make predictions about the play based on this report. Headline - play prediction task Pictionary - Each group will be given a copy of identical pictures. The aim is for the student’s group to work together to connect the pictures and try to predict what the play may be about. 5 minutes, 5 facts - Task

2 X A3 Worksheets Summary - A resource to use as your class reads through the novel. After each chapter, get your learners to write a short summary of that chapter. They can also note down any characters that are featured / mentioned in the novel. This can be useful for when learners need to revise the novel and the key scenes. Characters - A resource to help learners identify and analyse the different characters as they read through the novel. They can write down a description of the character and their personality traits.

I created this task for the Poetry Anthology revision lesson. The learners were asked to write a short summary of each of the fifteen poems and write a short overview of the context of that poem on the back of the card. This resource has been created for L1 learners. This is a recap session and has a short overview of how to write and structure a report. This was created for my learners after they had learnt how to format the text. This is not a full lesson ( I have a full report lesson available on my online store). This PPT gives an overview of the Unseen Poetry exam. The students are then shown a marking guide for Q1 and will use this to mark three student’s responses: Grade 5 to Grade 9. This lesson was created using my own ideas and other ideas/resources from free PPTs on TES and the CGP Unseen Poetry Guide. Thankyou for sharing your work with the TES community.

I created this PPT as my students were struggling with recalling quotes from the anthology. I found four different exam style questions and decided to make this task. It helps them to think on their feet when choosing a poem to compare theirs to, to see examples of questions that they could get in their exam and also tests them on whether they can recall quotes under pressure. I asked them to do the following: Read the exam question and think of a poem that you can compare this poem to. Write down why you would use this poem as a comparison. Read the question again and write down one quote you would use in your response when comparing these poems.

I created this task for an Inspector Calls revision lesson. The learners were asked to write an overview of each character and their key quotes on the back of the cards. There are also revision cards on the plot summary, themes and context for them to fill in. I have also included blank revision cards. This was to refresh their knowledge in preparation of their mock exams. Four cards per sheet. Print double sided on short flip edge.
