Functional Skills English Revision Guide Entry 3- Reading REFORM NCFE C&G
Two revision guides - one catered for NCFE and one catered for City and Guilds.
Both are 6/7 page revision guides that helps learners to understand what to expect in their reading assessment. They also gives advice and examples of how to answer the questions on the exam paper.
Revision guides includes:

Source document that will be used throughout the guide to show examples of how to answer the questions
How to skim and scan a piece of text
The different purposes of a text
how to find the meaning of words
How to replace a given word (C&G guide only)
These revision guides are based on the NCFE and City and Guilds criteria and uses the updated REFORMED Functional Skills delivery guide.
E3 Functional Skills English 24X Irregular Plurals Flash Cards - Writing Exam
24X Irregular Plural Flash Cards - double sided with polka dot print on one side.
These are flash cards which are useful to use with Entry Level 3 learners.
In the exam, learners are expected to write the plural form of a word. They will be expected to know a list of common plural nouns that don’t follow the usual spelling conventions.
Each singular noun and its irregular plural form is on one of the 24 cards.
You could add an extension activity and turn this into a matching game ( match the noun to the plural form). Learners could also create a sentence which includes each word.

A number of flash cards which are useful to use with secondary school aged learners. The cards contain the names and icons of different: social media platforms, internet sites and video streaming services.

There are statements on 2X cards each, which use one of the techniques above.
These cards were created so that my learners could play a ‘match a pair’ game. Turn all of the cards over on the table. Get the learners to take it in turns to turn over two cards, if the statements match the technique then they ‘win’ that pair of cards. If they don’t match, then they turn them back over and another player gets to choose two cards. Continue until all the cards are matched.
These can also be used as flash cards or revision cards and the cards are double sided, with a colourful polka dot design on the opposite side.
Also attached, are a set of cards ( buyer to cut out) with each of the following persuasive devices names written on them. You can get your learners to place the correct statement cards under each of these headings.
English Activity: Facebook Character Profile Template
Get your learners to pick one of the characters from a book they are reading and then create a Facebook profile for that character. They will fill in all of the information that they know about them from the book and add other additional presumed information of their own.
They will also write a status that sums up what that character is feeling at a particular moment in the book.

Get your learners to create their own Pride themed word search.

The learner will think of 12 words that are associated with Pride. They will write these words in the grid boxes and on the lines below the grid. Following this, the learner will then fill the remaining grid boxes with random letters of the alphabet.
Get your learners to swap their completed word search with a peer, who will then complete it.
Pride Month Fun Bingo Game X6 A4 Sheets - LGBT
Pride Bingo Game.
The bingo sheet contains symbols associated with Pride.
Cut out the squares on the grid sheet and place inside a container. Give each player a bingo card ( this is a 5 player game). As you draw a square from the hat, ask the players to cross them out on their grid sheet. The first player who gets 5 in a row, wins!
