My Yr 9 came to me the other day and started talking about "parkour" after watching the movie District B-13. I decided to do a PowerPoint to explain its origin, meaning...I have also attached a comprehension worksheet to do with it. Would suit able Y9, KS4 or A levels. Some reading, speaking (pair work), listening (movie trailer). Something a bit different! Enjoy and don't forget to feedback :-)
A French song, gap fill activity by Angele with full text and little paragraph giving background to the song. Used for A level as an intro into French music.
A good old fashion dictation about my holidays in El Salvador I did with my Yr10 GCSE French. (162 words). Followed by comprehension exercise. Enjoy and don't forget to feedback! :-)
Here is a running dictation in Spanish I prepared for my Yr10 after my summer holidays of 2014. The idea is to print the word file, cut it in strips and stick it around the room. Print 2 copies for big class. The students work in pairs. You give them a time limit, maybe 1 minute to start with during which one student comes to the piece of text to read and try to remember what he/she can. Then he/she goes back to write down what he/she can remember whilst the other person goes to read and try to remember more. They keep swapping around. Once you think they are more or less done, you can correct with the PowerPoint presentation. I get my students to underline/tick every word they get right and write what they are missing in a different colour. After that, there are some comprehension questions about the holidays followed by some creative writing on what happened next. I have also included what really happened next to compare with what they come up with. Enjoy and please feedback! :-)
Another good old fashion dictation on my pastimes (297 words). Some complex vocab. In the Powerpoint, you have the answer so the students can check their work in smaller chunks, correct their errors. Then there are 10 comprehension questions followed by find the French in the text (useful expressions). Enjoy and don't forget to feedback! :-) Would suit Grade 6/7/8
Another good old fashion dictation on my holidays about Normandy (100 words) followed by translation and using it to adapt about own past holiday. Using past and future tense. Enjoy and don't forget to feedback! :-) Would suit Yr9/Yr10

Here is a book I have written about the Spanish spoken in El Salvador. It contains 62 pages, a lot of vocabulary, expressions and images used on a daily basis in the Spanish of El Salvador. The whole book is in Spanish and it is arranged in themes. I decided to do this as a little project or challenge as I was learning more about this country and was really interested in the language which is very different from Castellano used in Spain. Many of my friends and family from El Salvador have helped and contributed towards this book. The illustrations in this book were drawn by a local artist who works for a national newspapers in El Salvador. Some extracts of this book could be used in lessons to compare with Castellano Spanish but it is more directed at teachers wanting to increase their knowledge of Spanish or teachers who are just curious and want to learn more about another culture. Enjoy and I hope you find it useful! If you would like to buy a printed copy, you can always contact me directly.
Here is a 9 letter word activity for tutorial. Students have to find the nine letter word and as many words with at least 2,3,4,5, letters. You can vary the difficulty depending on how good your group is. I have used in tutorial to help students with spelling. Be careful if you use this on overhead projector. The answer is the file name and will show on screen. Either change filename or rewrite letters on board. Enjoy and don't forget to feedback! :-)
A little song to play when you are doing the verb "ir" in Spanish or holidays topic. A really catchy song that most students will know. Gap filling exercise. Yr7/8. Enjoy! Link for song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkiBqUzxjHM
