Family Tree:
In small groups, children use the cards as clues in order to organise the pictures in a family tree.
An element of competition can be added, making the first team to solve how all the people are related the winner.
This takes a bit of preparation, but if you laminate it, you can reuse it many times.
This can be used with young children or ESL learners of many ages.
3 activities intended to accompany ‘Alice in Wonderland’ (level 5 (A2) kids reader by Pearson).
Language:
- characters from the story
- miscellaneous verbs and nouns from the story
- past simple sentence and question form

A basic worksheet to practice the past simple form and understand the meaning of 12 verbs. They are sorted into 6 groups of verbs with similar meanings to help comprehension.
**Note: This worksheet is intended to accompany Alice in Wonderland (A2 kids reader). It practices words and verb forms from the story. Look at my other resources to find more games and activities part of this unit.
Speaking practice for young learners of English at the A1-A2 level. I could also be used for extra revision for young B1 pupils.
It’s a guessing game for pupils to practice proper formation using past simple questions (Did you…?) and answers (Yes, I did / No, I didn’t). It can then be followed by a speaking or writing exercise in which the pupils must make full sentences about one person.
Game Play:
Prepare one game board per pupil.
Pre-teach any necessary vocabulary. Remind pupils that in yes/no questions, they do not need to change the verb form.
Player A decides who she/he is from the board, and keeps it secret.
Player B asks yes/no questions to guess who player A is.
To guess the name, pupils should be encouraged to use full question form - ‘Are you [name]?’ rather than simply saying the name (you know, extra practice and all!)
Switch roles and repeat.

eat, drink, laugh, cry, go, look for, see
other vocabulary:
biscuit/cookie, mushroom, tea, water, beach, forest/wood, key, book, caterpillar, hare

Games and activities to help young children with basic spelling, including KS2 practice with plurals. The scrabble tiles can also be used with higher level children to practice more challenging words!
Spelling practice on 15 compound nouns, suitable for KS2 prep.
The first sheet is a spelling list with a ‘Look, Cover, Write’ activity.
The second sheet includes a list of the same words which have been scrambled for pupils to unscramble. It also has 5 sentences with missing words for pupils to fill in with words form the spelling list.
The third sheet is a wordsearch with these 15 words. Pupils must find the words and write them at the bottom of the page.
The last sheet is a blank spelling test sheet with 15 spaces for pupils to be tested on these words.
These worksheets could also be used for older ESL pupils learning about compound nouns.

The first file contains example sentences with underlined words which need to be matched to cards with the type of speech (verb, noun, etc).
After practicing matching the example sentences to the types of speech, pupils can then try practice exam questions from past KS2 exams which test knowledge of parts of speech.

Card game with singular and plural forms of different nouns, covering the different spelling rules (x, sh, ch, irregulars, etc.). The cards should be printed either on coloured paper or card stock, or using the final page on the opposite site so that pupils cannot see through them. They can be used to play memory or Go Fish.
The second file contains various KS2 exam practice about plurals. The crossword is best assigned as homework for extra practice.
The file contains 2 versions of letters - one with points and the other without. Letters can be put in the middle for pupils to form their own words, or handed out and played in a similar manner as Scrabble. It's best if letters are printed on card stock and/or laminated for durability. Also, as all vowels are on one page and consonants on another, it is useful to print each on a separate colour to help pupils recognise vowels vs consonants.

Cards should be printed on coloured paper or cardstock so that words are not visible from the backside. Ten sets should be handed out shuffled to each pair to play memory. Rotate the sets of 10 so pupils get practice with all 100 sight words. Afterwards, pupils can be given quick spelling tests based on these words or dictation sentences using only words from this selection.

Interactive practice with primary level connectives. Suitable for KS2 English revision or extra support for older ESL pupils.
Cut-outs should be prepared for each pair or group of 3 to match sentences. Afterwards, pupils can complete the worksheet independently to consolidate use of connectives.
A quick colourful visual guide of the core tenses in English. Intended to be used alongside instruction on the meaning and function of tenses, but useful as an overview and sort of checklist for pupils.
