Europe Table Names
Simple table names for a class studying Europe. Ready to cut and laminate - country names with flags underneath.
The First Christmas (Comic Strip Worksheet)
After reading the story of the first Christmas, I got the children to recount the story in comic strip form to assess their understanding. Can be used with younger children as a story and sentence activity or in greater depth higher up the school.
Target Arrows
Here are some arrows that I had children complete with 'My target is...'. We had them decorated and laminated and put up on a target board, getting nearer to the centre as they felt they were reaching their target.
Good for target setting and self assessment.
Classroom Resource labels
Some labels for maths jotters, language jotters etc.
Missing Person Writing Frame
This is a writing frame for a missing person poster. It can be used to encourage character description using adjectives and similes. Could be used as a first day activity or a getting to know you activity - children could write a poster for themselves or a friend in class.
Dissolving Experiment
This is a report frame which allows children to write up a dissolving experiment. They predict and test several substances such as coffee, sugar, salt etc. in hot and cold water. They can discuss how to make it fair and the results.
Floating and Sinking Experiment
Children must choose objects from around the classroom and test them to see whether they float or sink in water. This report frame lets them think how to fairly test this and to predict their results first.
Christianity - Special places and people
This is a worksheet which requires children to think of their special place and person and relate that to a Christian's special place and person. A very simple introduction to Christianity and beliefs.
Chocolate Melting Experiment
This is a report frame for a Chocolate science experiment. The children test three types of chocolate - milk, white and dark and each of these has a piece at room temp, fridge temp and freezer temp. The children time how long it takes each to melt in their hands or their mouths!
Insulation Experiment
This is a frame for a science report based on an insulation experiment. The experiment is using different types of cups (plastic, ceramic, wooden, polystyrene, glass etc.) to see which one keeps water hottest the longest.
Children have to test the water temperature at timed intervals and write up an experiment report.
Three Little Pigs Experiment
This is a science report frame for the three little pigs experiment. Basically groups have a time limit to build a house from straw (either real (messy!) or art straws), wood (lollipop stigs or twigs) and brick (lego ones!).
You can then test each house to see which material is the strongest. We have tested with a hairdryer and a fan before!
My Superhero!
A writing frame for children to invent their own superhero and write a descriptive piece about the character.
There is also an accompanying planning sheet to get children thinking about ideas for their superhero.
Recipe for me!
This is a great getting to know you activitiy for a class or first day. Children create a recipe based on themselves, ingredients could be personality traits, looks, hobbies, family members etc.
They write a method and produce a picture of themselves at the bottom. Just a bit of fun to help you get to know them!
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Setting
Here is a planning sheet and activity sheet for creating a new room for Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
This activity is to encourage children's writing to become more descriptive especially with the setting. It can also be taught alongside the dvd for inspiration.
Complete with success criteria sheet.
Pupil of the Week Classroom Reusable Poster/Sign
I created this sign and laminated it. There is a space to stick on the photo of the pupil of the week and a space for them to write on why they have achieved pupil of the week.
Comic Strip Planning Sheet
This is a planning sheet I created to help children to consider their ideas for a comic strip. It looks at characters and events.
Individual Reward Chart and Certificate!
I created this individual reward chart as an incentive for good behaviour in the classroom. Each child had a laminated chart with their name on it and received a small sticker for good behaviour/good work etc. When the reward chart was full, they received a small prize and could take the completed chart home. It features a car and race track shape with a trophy at the end!
Why the Whales Came - setting task
This is a powerpoint to accompany the novel, Why the Whales Came by Michael Morpurgo. It has several pictures of different settings and leads to a discussion on why setting is important to a story. You can either give the children a copy of a chapter describing setting or get them to take notes of words and phrases relating to setting as you read aloud.
Lunar Mission!
This is a powerpoint about Moon Buggies to accompany a space topic. It discusses the surface of the moon and how to describe it then the children must decide what kind of vehicle would be suitable for travel on the moon.
There are picture examples of moon buggies and then the children must complete a task to make a moon buggy. We made buggies from K'nex and tested it on a playdough moon surface!
Leaning Tower of Pisa Experiment
Children in groups create a 'leaning tower' from any sort of materials, art straws, sellotape, newspaper etc. They gradually tilt the base of their completed item whilst measuring the angle with a protractor. They keep tilting until the tower collapses!
There is a planning sheet and there is an accompanying results sheet.
Angles, Europe, Italy, Towers, Building, Maths.
