These are a collection of wordsearches of high frequency words for grades 1 and 2.
There are four for each grade / year.
The wordsearches also feature some images linked to some of the words in the activities so children can make links / have a light break from searching for the wordsand keep them engaged on the activity.
These activities reinforce spellings, help strengthen child’s vocabularly, emphasise pattern recognition, and they are great for practicing drawing lines!
Prepare now to get into the spirit of Easter with a quality 3-activity worksheet. It contains a 36-word wordsearch, a fill the blanks paragraph and 8 Easter-themed questions. The kids may need to carry out research for some of these.
This listing includes a full answer sheet and the wordsearch on its own if you prefer it.
This quiz can be used as a comprehension exercise where children watch the film “The Pirates! Band of Misfits” and then answer as many questions correctly as they can.
The adjusted / differentiated activity can be that the film is watched in two halves (or smaller chunks) to give children less to remember all at once and more of a chance to get all 18 questions correct!
This activity can also be an opportunity to practice spellings, learn something new (what exactly is a barnacle?) and most importantly, have fun! You can also encourage children to come up with their own questions to test others.
This is a suitable task for Grade 4 upwards (approximately 8+ years) and FYI the film has a PG rating. Answer sheet is included.
If not used for skills practice, just save it for a treat or a rainy day!

25 files to make up the following:
Two rating scales - 0-5 and 0-10. Vibrant, gradient-coloured from red to green. Each scale image is ready for A3 (29.7am x 42cm) printing so a full scale will be up to approx. 3 x A3 (or approx. 120cm.)
Title letters are ready to print on A4 paper (21cm x 29.7cm) Options available are black and the vibrant, gradient of red to green.
Smileys if you want to help communicate what each position on the scale represents for a particular activity.
These scales are excellent to use when gauging understanding or confidence levels e.g. at the start of a lesson, children answer a set of questions and then post-it their name on the scale reflecting however many questions they got correct. The same questions can be asked after the learning has taken place and children can move their name post-its up the scale to reflect their progress. Simple but effective! (Useful for observations to sign-post progress or increased confidence levels.)
The scales can be stuck back to back before laminating to easily switch between the scales.
You can even print out mini versions and stick them into books or onto worksheets and have children assess / provide feedback on their own performance.
A simple but very effective tool when it comes to assessment and reflection!
Get into the spirit of Valentine’s day (or save it for next year!) with a quality 3-activity worksheet. TWELVE quality wordsearch puzzles (in a zip file) based on key terms from six Roald Dahl Books:
Fantastic Mr Fox;
George’s Marvellous Medicine;
James and the Giant Peach;
Matilda;
The Magic Finger;
The Twits.
10-word and 30-word wordsearches for each story. (Simple differentiation / use depending on the time available.)
These were used with Year / Grade 5 children when they were reading Roald Dahl stories and they thoroughly enjoyed them (and older (or younger!) children will enjoy them too.) These were used in class as a starter, to support their recollection of events in the books, as well as to reinforce spellings. They were also used with students as part of World Book Day celebrations and as part of school library sessions to promote the love of reading.
