A lesson aimed at the Year 3 Science unit of Plants. This lesson is the first lesson of a sequence, looking at the different parts of a plant. The lesson presentation includes being able to name the different parts of a plant as well as then discussing the different roles that each part plays. This is then followed by an independent activity that requires children to label the parts of a plant before matching the parts to their different functions. This is then followed by a challenge question to provide the chance to reason. An answer sheet and support sheet are also included.

A lesson aimed at the Year 3 Science unit of Plants. This lesson is the second lesson of a sequence, looking at the different things that a plant needs. The lesson presentation includes a recap from a previous lesson of the different parts of a plant (can easily be omitted if you want this lesson as a one off) before then looking at the different things plants need and why. This is then followed by an independent activity that requires children to name the things plants need before completing a true or false grid with statements linked to what plants need. This is then followed by a challenge question to provide the chance to reason. An answer sheet and support sheet are also included. There is also a copy of the recap task included should you wish for children to have a go at naming parts of the plant and explaining why one part is important.

Each fact file is then matched up with an 11 question comprehension to support development of reading comprehension, as well as an answer sheet. This can be used in a number of ways including as part of a series of reading lessons, the opportunity to focus in on an individual, individual reading lessons or tasks, home learning tasks or for homework. Two lessons that focus on introducing or recapping some key aspects of the world including: Continents Oceans Equator Hemispheres Tropics The first lesson is: A fully-resourced lesson that focuses on being able to name and locate the continents of the world and the oceans. Included is: A presentation that introduces the different continents and oceans, involving some discussion around these, questions and some facts around continents. An activity that links to the presentation with questions and a map task for naming the oceans and continents. There is also a challenge question for those that finish. An answer sheet is also included for the activity. A support sheet for the activity which is a map with the continents and oceans named. This lesson can be used in either KS1 or 2 with a focus on teaching continents and oceans for the first time or coming back to it at the start of KS2. The second lesson is: An introductory lesson to the Equator, hemispheres and tropics, suitable for either Year 2 or lower KS2.
