The first set of activities includes five worksheets that look at being able to order decimal numbers, beginning with simple numbers and then beginning to look more closely in detail at place value before finally moving on to negative numbers. Lessons can include using the books and films to engage children with the ideas from the stories before then looking at writing instructions themselves. Included are: a word mat for a range of potion items that could be used; a word mat for a range of imperative verbs and time connectives and three different examples of instructions for creating potions that can be seen in the Harry Potter books and films. This includes then looking at making changes from the original instructions in the same way that can be seen in The Half Blood Prince through Snape's notes that make changes to the instructions (task for higher ability children).
