Classroom poster on how to do the future tense. It includes all conjugations and their translation (include ‘On’) for the verb aller, a list of infinitives and time markers.
Format is A1 size, but can be printed in smaller sizes.
This is part of my French Grammar/ Conjugation Booklet at KS3 which you can find here:
https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12756410
I created this booklet because I could not find anything that simplified it as specifically as I wanted it.
It explains grammatical terms without going overly technical.
It uses step by step guides or flowcharts.
It includes “On” in the conjugations.
Common irregular verbs are available.
Images speak for themselves, so please see a live example here: https://issuu.com/dinkummfl/docs/mock_up_livret_de_conjuguaison_1_
Aimed at KS3, this booklet explains le présent - the present tense, le passé composé - the perfect tense, l’imparfait - the imperfect tense, le futur proche - the near future, le futur simple - the simple future, le conditionnel- the conditional, les verbes réfléchis - reflexive verbs and impersonal expressions.
Each tense page includes:
what it is used for.
how to use it and the main rules.
8 common irregular verbs fully conjugated in that tense.
some tips on what to use it with (i.e. time markers)
It also includes a grammar lingo explanation and a list of most common verbs.
It can be used a KS4 but note some tenses will be missing!
In my experience, it takes time for grammatical terms and rules to stay in the working memory for long periods, as there is limited time to do both explanation+practice.
However, practice will reinforce patterns and so I needed something that was not a sentence builder (it is sometimes not challenging enough), but something that would allow my pupils to speak freely with confidence. I personally aim for grammatical understanding, so that we can sometimes work outside the set topics, use authentic materials and discuss topics my pupils are interested in, and I trust that sometimes it is just about having the available tools for them.
You can also download individual posters for display or to glue in books in my shop.
I am in the progress of recreating the same document with blank spaces for EAL pupils.
Page tabs can be cut out so that they stick out like labels. Includes printing instructions.
