Hi! I currently work in London as a Deputy Headteacher. I love all things teaching and learning! I am extremely passionate about education and find researching and creating new strategies and ideas exciting. The world of teaching and leading in England is highly stressful and it's up to all of us to look after each other's well-being...I hope my resources save you some precious time.

Crack my code!
Children to use simple format to create their own code and use it to write a secret messge to someone else.
I used this to start a Year 2 topic on Media Magic, thinking and learning about language and communication.
My children really enjoyed being secret agents.
Simple format - words can be changed to suit whatever topic. Children write a definiteion of each term, in this case we did it for 'What is our school made from?'
Small format differentiated by number of spellings that can be stuck in back of Literacy book to keep record of tests. Children can also self or peer assess before it is checked by a teacher.
A table that children can use to fill in the title of a book and then any adjectives they can steal from the book...which they'll later use in their writing. (BA)
Links to five youtube video clips, showing different ways that I taught Hamlet to a Year 5 class in a fun and engaging way. This resource is there to hopefully give you some ideas and inspirations. If you'd like any extra support or ideas, please send me a message.
Thank you
Mindmaps where children can fill words in, sometimes an independent activity in class or sent home for homework. Linked to sounds that we learn that week.
Sheets can be easily changed to fit any sound.
I hope you have found these resources useful. If you have time please leave feedback :)
Children to study adn read first verse of The Windmill by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and draw images related, for example, some drew a windmill with an angry giant face others drew a tiger with sharp teeth to represent granite jaws.
I already have two free mock phonics screening tests in my free resources. If you have already used those, here is an option for a brand new (2016) edition. The test is laid out as the STA lay theirs out.
There are 40 words: 20 real and 20 pseudo. There is also a tick sheet to record pupils’ answers and a class record sheet.
I would advise carrying out several mock screening checks so that the children are comfortable with the format. Also, this allows you to find individual or common areas for development and plan your phonics sessions accordingly. As a school, we have had extremely good phonics screening results, 80-90%.
This resource could also be printed off as a booklet and given as homework to encourage families to support their children in working towards passing the phonics screening.
My resources always take me a lot of time and effort to create so I hope that they help to save you some precious time - please do review my resources. Thank you!
