It is extremely important to capture the interest of young pupils when it comes to politics. Teachers need to play a part in encouraging pupils to become politically active citizens.
A presentation for assembly or a lesson on Theresa May, the UK's second female Prime Minister of the UK. The 19 slide presentation explains why we will have a new Prime Minister, who the other candidates were, information about the Queen's role, facts about Theresa May, who she has chosen as her main cabinet, who she sacked and some information on the new Education Secretary. The presentation is concluded with a 10 question quiz (with answers).
Also included are 10 lesson ideas and Theresa May's first speech as PM.

Fantastic and fun 28 slide/12 question quiz. The quiz is multiple choice and covers a range of topics including: politics, sport and celebrities. Children answer 12 questions, choosing a, b or c. They then swap papers with a partner and then the answers are relived on the Powerpoint, There is also a Roman Numeral tie breaker!

This is a gentle introduction into thinking about the evil of terror. There is a poem, comprehension and a scaffold for pupils to write their own poem.

This is a fabulous resource that can be used for so many different engaging lessons. This is Theresa May's full speech on calling a general election on 8th June. The speech is fascinating. Ask your pupils to work out which key words are repeated the most, how Theresa May refers to herself and the opposing parties or work out why an election is being called. It could also be used to pick apart May's use of grammar and vocabulary.
