Create a family tree by drawing family members faces, boxes can be added or removed. The differentiation is detailed at the top of the sheet in a MSC format.

This is heavily focussed on reading but linked with our science topic. Children have to read the text and then answer questions on it. Activites like this are beneficial in starting to prepare children for reading tests so it's easier for them if/when they do have to sit them.

Simple tally chart format, which can be changed to suit different topics. I have chopped the tallies so you can copy and paste the different lines to suit your needs. Each table group received a different tally. They then created a 3D pictogram by transferring the data.

Various resources used for a reading/phonics workshops, includes: invitation, poster about gobbledygook words (link to phonics screening) and a few other bits. The documents put together make a pack that is supported by a power point presentation.

Given 9 key words in groups, children then rearrange the key words discussing which they think is most important and so on. This happens on the floor with large paper and flashcards, the end result is then written up onto this sheet.

Write a description of the tropical jungle in the lovely book, The Tin Forest. Brilliant for use of adjectives. Sheet comes with writing checklist that can be adapted depending on lesson focus. Also there is a leaflet for comparing the two different settings. Our audience and purpose was that the old man has found a wife. She wants to live in the tin forst as she thinks it's easier to manage, he wants to live in the jungle as he waited for so long for something to grow. We looked at the physical and human features around Brixton Windmill and then in groups created 3D maps (as shown). Look brilliant and really help the children to position different features correctly.

Bookmarks that children's individual can be typed onto, laminated and sent home. When children have achieved their target, they can move onto the next. All bookmarks have a picture of a real book on.
