Here is a new version of an old favourite: The Twelve Days of Christmas. You can use the music and rhythm from this to sing along with/ read this PPT. The Christmas tree builds up from having a red robin , 2 shiny stars, 3 naughty elves and up to 12 drums a drumming. Children can join in with the counting as your go along from slide 1 to 12. Slide 13 is the title slide showing the 12 days of Christmas pictures. Slide 14 is a worksheet where children can cut out and order the 12 days of Christmas.

This resource consists of two worksheets, each focusing on Christmas. The first worksheet covers numbers 1 to 5, the second covers numbers 6 to 10.Sheet 3 is a blank template that can be used in a variety of ways. Each worksheet includes five black and white pictures of things you may see at Christmas, such as mince pies, crackers, presents and reindeer. Children count, colour and cut out the images. There are matching number cards for each picture. Children can write the corresponding number, trace the numeral, and then match these cards to the picture cards on the worksheets. There are also cards displaying the names of the Christmas pictures. Children can practice their writing skills, cut out the names, and match them to the appropriate Christmas pictures. A fun way to incorporate maths into the festive season. Cut out the 24 colour pictures of socks for children to make into pairs of Christmas socks. They can look out for the odd picture, that shows a pair of socks, rather than a single one, as a talking point. Once the socks are all paired, children can use the sock template worksheet to create their own Christmas designs on the white socks and make these into matching pairs. Children can look out for pattern and colour to help them with their sorting and matching. There is a blank sheet that children can paste pairs onto or draw their own socks and designs. For younger children and / or a practical element, ask children to bring in a pair of socks and create a class sorting sock activity!
