This resource is great for speaking and listening and thinking about where we live. Children can talk in pairs about the poster and compare it with the places where they live. There are a set of comprehension questions on page 2 such as how many houses are on the square and what sort of houses they are. Link this to houses and homes or where we live. A cross curricular resource based on your topic of Homes, Houses, Where we live or Ourselves. The children have 8 houses and need to work out what the colours are of each. Children read the text and then colour in the appropriate parts of each house. Next, they cut out the houses and put them in number order. Houses are even numbered from 2 to 16. Sheet 2 shows the houses when coloured in so children can mark their own work. For younger children, the adult could read the text and the children can then colour in the houses. Children could do this activity as a guided reading activity or as homework.

A novel idea for a classroom display where all the children contribute, with a link to PSHE. The idea is that the children produce hand prints, either using the outlines included or making hand prints and cutting around these. There are black and white and colour hand prints included.
