This Power Point starts of with an animated slide showing 6 pictures of different days out children may experience. Click to show the words to go with the pictures and children can see if they can name the places correctly. Page 2 shows black and white drawings of the days out and the words appear on a click. Next there is a slide for each day out as a writing template. Print off the sheets for worksheets where children can write about their favourite days out or places they would like to visit.

4 pages of ideas to stimulate children to write creatively. Each page had 6 ideas of story starters and endings. Children think about what the middle of the stories might be and choose 1 or more options to write about.

Here is a fun activity using 6 coloured blocks which children cut out from the sheet provided. Each block has a different word/s - beside, in between, above, under, below, next to. Children are given the tasks of a. recreate the patterns in the 3 patterns given b. create patterns of their own ensuring that the words make sense e.g. under must be under at least one other brick. You could make this a competitive game where children work in pairs or groups and see how many different combinations they can come up with. Extend / differentiate using less blocks or using lego or other blocks for practical activities.

This is a great way to learn about or research travel and journeys. There are 3 examples of places commonly visited showing the flags, photos and other related images: GB, Italy and France. The children can write about these places using the pictures for inspiration.
