Owl Babies Word and Sentence Writing Activity
This activity supports word recognition and sentence writing while aiding comprehension of the “Owl Babies” story.
It has been successfully used in EYFS classes from 2020 to 2023.
1st page: CVC Word Tracing
• Children trace CVC words related to the Gruffalo story. Focus is on neat letter formation and phonics reinforcement.
2nd page: Word Identification
• Children identify the correct CVC word by matching it to the relevant image, using pictures from the Gruffalo story.
3rd and 4th page: Sentence Writing
• Children practice writing sentences related to the Gruffalo story, using the CVC words provided as part of their early sentence formation and storytelling skills.
**The learning pack aligns with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and supports several key Early Learning Goals (ELGs). **
• Recognising and forming letters links to the ELG of Literacy, which emphasises letter recognition, writing, and early reading skills.
