All the resources I have created are specifically targeted at the new specification for Edexcel (9-1) I have followed recommendations from Active teach and the exam specification to make sure all relevant content is covered. Most are lessons within themselves and for those new to teaching may find it reassuring to know that the information the class need is often written in a simple, easy to understand format on the power points themselves.

Resource based on the edexcel 2016 spec (9-1) Note - I have included some exam style questions but you will need to use edexcel worksheets for this lesson. Starter: complete the table of units, vector or scalar. Tables can be printed from the hidden slide within the powerpoint Main: goes into some detail about using the acceleration equation, correct units and gives an walkthrough of an exam Q. This is followed by 2 simple exam questions and use of the edexcel worksheets. One final slide then talks about acceleration due to gravity and brief not on terminal velocity Final task is a choice of 2 exam questions (I picked which one pupils did) T or F plenary at the end

CP1b Distance time graphs

Resource based on the edexcel 2016 spec (9-1) Note - you will need to use edexcel worksheets for this lesson Starter is a knowledge retention quiz for vectors and scalars (answers on powerpoint) Main: pupils are shown a video on distance time graphs. I then got them to draw a table which we used to record some measurements. (pupils walking and running) I did this with 2 year 9 classes, one indoors and one out on the playground. I then showed a sample of some results and drew the graph. they then have to apply this on graph paper. This was followed up by the edexcel worksheets and a quick plenary on whiteboards with graphs on the powerpoint

Resource based on the edexcel 2016 spec (9-1) I have included some exam style questions but you may need to use edexcel worksheets for this lesson. Starter: Explain how a vacuum flask works (printout with key words on slides) Main: Information about GPE with worked examples and questions then information about kinetic energy (as per curriculum). Peer assessment for pupils with answers on slides. Plenary: to get pupils thinking outside the box I gave them the chance to think up questions to ask about the lesson. The harder the question the more reward points they got.

CP1d Velocity time graphs

Resource based on the edexcel 2016 spec (9-1) I have included some exam style questions but you may need to use edexcel worksheets for this lesson. Starter: Recap from distance time graphs. PowerPoint provides printable data for students and a pre-made graph for them to complete. To make this harder they could just use graph paper and come up with a suitable scale. Main. information about VT graphs and using and example of a drag racer (inc video to help) . Pupils are then given data from the PowerPoint (either the table of data, the instructions or both depending on ability) and must plot their own graph. Following that 2 power points explain how to calculate distance from there graph and they with then choose one of the sheets available from edexcel (I have put three on the PowerPoint as suggestions but actually there are quite a few for this topic) Other sheets could be used. Plenary- match up words to definitions

CP3e Non renewable energy (over two lessons)

(0)
Resource based on the edexcel 2016 spec (9-1) aimed at a lower ability year 10 group but can work for others as well. I did this over two lessons as the practical took some time Starter- Simple starter naming types of energy Main: Brief discussion about non renewable energy and how power stations work then pupils used the edexcel worksheet to build a working turbine. I have also included some differentiated worksheets (A3 size) I used for a slightly different lesson which you may wish to adapt. In the second lesson We then looked at changing trend in fuel use. The graph on the powerpoints was printed off in colour and pupils answered questions off the powerpoint. Then pupils used the edexcel task sheets and tasks off the board to complete.

Resource based on the edexcel 2016 spec (9-1) Starter- Fun starter to help kids remember order of the EM spectrum. All essential information on slides. Printable EM spectrum on slides and extended question with answers. Some information about radio telescopes including a link to a TED talk on radiotelescope use (I only used part of this as its 15 minutes) Tasks with different levels of challenge (including worksheet CP5b.3 from edexcel website) Pyramid plenary

Resource based on the edexcel 2016 spec (9-1) Note - I have included some questions on the powerpoint but you will need to use edexcel worksheets for this lesson. This lesson leads on from the previous one in the series and assume some knowledge of Specific heat capacity equation for the starter. Starter: questions printable from powerpoint to test knowledge from previous lesson on Specific heat capacity equation. Main: Rearranging equation for SHC with a worked example. Equation for Specific latent heat and video to reinforce. Tasks and progress checks (with answers) on powerpoints. Plenary: Pupils evaluate where they got to within the lesson using the evaluation tree

Resource based on the edexcel 2016 spec (9-1) Note - I have included some questions on the powerpoint but you will need to use edexcel worksheets for this lesson. This lesson also covers specific heat capacity and gives pupils some practice at the equation. I have included the links below to the free resources i have used on this power point Starter: Pupils read the text/ information (oon powerpoint) and highlight it. They then summarise it in 3 sentences Main: Talks about temperature vs heat, heating/ cooling curves and SHC. Uses digrams, practice questions, videos and graphs. Plenary: choice of an evalluation tree of SUM up exercise https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/specific-heat-capacity-problems-6423710 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/specific-heat-capacity-questions-6144596
