New GCSE - Physics paper 2 equations

(0)
These flashcards are deigned to improve students recall of the equations. They are aimed at combined science and separate science students. They are a great activity for class, homework or extended days. Relevant for both year 10 and year 11 students.
New GCSE - Physics practical planning
ls6372ls6372

New GCSE - Physics practical planning

(0)
This activity assists students in planning selected Physics required practicals. Each practical has an overview with an equipment list as well as a student work sheet with cues. Suitable for use with years 9-11.
Friction

Friction

(0)
KS3 lesson on friction. Differentiated throughout and combined with the practical dragging blocks over different surfaces. Learning Objectives: Describe what friction is and how it occurs Identify uses for friction Explain why friction can be useful or a problem
Life cycle of a star
ls6372ls6372

Life cycle of a star

(0)
Lesson looking at the life cycle of a star. Could be used with many different year groups. I printed out a blank version of slide 17 for the students to fill out as I went through the stages during the lesson. Learning Objectives: Describe the life cycle of our star Explain how heavy elements are formed Explain why different stars can go through different stages in their lifetimes
Stability of objects
ls6372ls6372

Stability of objects

(0)
GCSE lesson on stability, looking at the factors that affect it. The 'practical' involved in the lesson was cello taping lego bricks to tiles and lifting them until the lego topples over. Learning Objectives: Explain why things topple over Explain the factors that affect stability
Pendulums
ls6372ls6372

Pendulums

(0)
GCSE lesson on pendulums. Differentiated throughout and practical involved. Learning Objectives: Describe the difference between time period, frequency and amplitude Calculate time period and frequency of different pendulums Describe the factors that affect the period of a pendulum
KS 3 Homework tasks
ls6372ls6372

KS 3 Homework tasks

4 Resources
A set of homeworks for KS3 students to research key discoveries in science. Created to be completed in a half term as a group of weekly tasks. Each powerpoint contains 5/6 activities Topics: Medicine Space Scientific developments Physics of animals
New GCSE - Physics paper 1 Flashcards
ls6372ls6372

New GCSE - Physics paper 1 Flashcards

(0)
These flashcards are based on fact recall for Physics paper 1. They are aimed at combined science students, but easily adapted for separate science students. They are a great activity for class, homework or extended days. Relevant for both year 10 and year 11 students.
New GCSE - Speed
ls6372ls6372

New GCSE - Speed

(0)
Lesson looking at using the speed equation with differentiated questions throughout. I took the students outside to time themselves walking, jogging and running different distances. They then calculated their speeds back int eh classroom (you could then get them to draw a bar graph of their results as practice for drawing graphs!). Homework in this lesson is a reverse crossword (a crossword in which the students have to think what the clues would be for each word) Learning Objectives: Recall the equation and formula triangle to calculate speed Calculate distance, time and speed using the equation
New GCSE - Physics of cycling
ls6372ls6372

New GCSE - Physics of cycling

(0)
This STEM lesson involves the students selecting certain aspects of a cycling team. It will promote an interest in the subject as it is context led. The resource involves students completing physics calculations and promotes data analysis skills. The lesson is suitable for year 10 and year 11
KS3: Life cycle of a star
ls6372ls6372

KS3: Life cycle of a star

(2)
Used with KS3 but perfectly good with KS4 as well with a few alterations. Lots of differentiation and AfL. Print off slide 5 for the students to fill out as you go through the information. Learning Objectives: Describe what the big bang is Describe the route our star will take in its’ life cycle Compare the different paths stars can take in their life cycle
GCSE Physics Specific Heat Capacity
ls6372ls6372

GCSE Physics Specific Heat Capacity

(0)
GCSE Physics lesson on specific heat capacity to a KS4 class. The experiment carried out to calculate specific heat capacity was also done in the lesson. Learning Objectives: Explain what the specific heat capacity of a material is Calculate the specific heat capacity of a material Analyse the results from the experiment
