Hi! I'm the Deputy Head at a SEN school in Central London. I teach English and PSHE as well as leading on cyber safety as a CEOP ambassador. A number of these resources may seem a little off the wall but I try to make resources as unique and entertaining as possible. Enjoy (in moderation)

This pack features a comprehensive breakdown of the poem 'One Flesh'. The poem is broken down, line by line, stanza by stanza into manageable chunks for the students. The completed work packs, once completed, function as excellent revision guides for the students. There are two separate work packs - A is more challenging than B in order to stretch certain learners. I have used these in my SEN school and students who previously struggled with poetry concepts flew through the lessons.

English & Art Cross Curricular Lesson - 'A Fly on the Wall'

(0)
A fun cross-curricular lesson which asks students to imagine they are 'flies on a wall'. The lesson focuses on the students imagining they are in the art gallery from the film ' The Thomas Crown Affair', as thieves attempt to steal valuable art. The lesson focuses on using the 5 senses to create vivid descriptions and features image support and a modelled answer.

Of Mice and Men-2 fun games to engage ANY student!

If Michael Gove frowned upon reading 'Of Mice and Men', he would definitely frown upon these two games! Keep Steinbeck's text alive with these two easy to modify games. The first game is snappily titled 'The Mice is Right' and is a multiple choice game where students have to guess the correct answers in relation to contextual issues around the book. The second game if 'Mice and Men dating'. The matchmaker game acts as facade for students' testing their ability to remember the characters by their traits and appearance. Unfortunately I can't add it here, but playing the game with 'California Love' adds a whole new element to playing along.

Werewolf article lesson

(0)
This fun (and gory!) lesson asks students to read some witness statements about one of the earliest reports of a werewolf! The students break down the witness statements and compare their similarities and differences before using their summaries to write an article about the event on the provided 'Metro' template. There are some follow-up questions as a research homework or extension task.

Parents' Evening Feedback form

A printable handout to give to parents on 'Parents' Evening'. The form is great to give parents concise and digestable feedback to take away, particularly of students who really need to take that feedback on board!

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde - SEN friendly version

(0)
This is an SEN friendly version of the 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' text. I have begun using this with my students and it is proving hugely successful. Throughout, there are images to help students visualise what is happening in the story. I have also edited the story to keep the key events in the text yet making it a little more condensed for those who find reading the oft difficult language more challenging. The text has also been double spaced to help dyslexic students.
