Teacher’s suggestions for Bulletin Activities - “Exploring Food and School Life”:
Special Menu in the Cafeteria:
Encourage students to actively participate in the Special Menu days’ activity (January 8, 18, 26) by prompting them to ask each other about the featured dishes. Encourage conversations among classmates, prompting questions about their favorite choices or the specials on any of those days.
Writing Assignment:
Facilitate a class discussion on diverse favorite foods, explaining the task while emphasizing the importance of self-expression in both English and Spanish. Remind students to incorporate vocabulary from the worksheet and to keep their answers simple.
Cultural Spotlight:
Instruct students to read the information about “tacos” and provide their opinion on whether they enjoy eating tacos or not. Additionally, encourage them to suggest three related questions in Spanish, fostering further discussion on the topic.
Daily Essentials:
Instruct students to label all those different items in Spanish (zapatillas de deporte, etc) and then explain the significance of bringing these items to school.
School Timetable:
Prompt students with four questions about their favorite subjects, their preferred days at school, and any subjects they may dislike.
¿Cuáles son tus asignaturas favoritas en la escuela? (What are your favorite subjects in school?)
¿En qué días te sientes más feliz en la escuela? (On which days do you feel most happy at school?)
¿Hay alguna asignatura que no te gusta tanto? ¿Por qué? (Is there any subject you don’t like much? Why?)
