This unit requires that learners identify the essential food groups required for a balanced diet. One is required to identify the amount of each food group to be consumed by an average person. Learners should be able to identify how a balanced diet and regular exercise contributes to a healthy lifestyle. At the end learners are expected to identify different examples of exercise and weekly recommended amount of exercise.
This unit looks at what team work is and why it is important. It explores what factors can affect team work positively or negatively. Learners identify activities at school, world of work or a fun challenging activity and then identify what team work attributes would be required for that activity or challenge. Learners then actually take part in fun challenges and then self and peer assess each others skills they brought to the task or challenge Activities include balloon trolleys and building a paper tower. In doing this learners actually use reflective thinking skills that are important in life and work.

It looks at different examples of financial transactions, where and how they take place. There is an opportunity to identify the key items of a receipt and payslip. All learners start with a balance of of £120 however they can quickly find themselves with a healthy looking balance or a negative balance hence skint. The unit covers physical, psychological effects of abusing alcohol. It also looks at the effects of withdrawing from alcohol and the sources of help and information for people who are addicted.
