Types of Minibeast PowerPoint

This powerpoint is a quiz for your class. It allows them to investigate the different features of minibeasts and then try and figure out which category each minibeast fits into. I used this as a starter for my class before they went into a teamwork activity to sort their minibeasts and then peer mark whether they think it’s right. This powerpoint is fully editable so you can use it with other age groups or add/remove features as appropriate

Calligram (Shape) Poems PowerPoint

This powerpoint provides an introduction to calligram poems and provides the opportunity to incorporate outdoor learning into your lesson. To start, the children can see examples of calligram poems and discover the key features within them. Children will then go outside to find inspiration for their own poem and when they come back in they can write their poem. This powerpoint is fully editable if you cannot go outside or wish to change some of the features.

Shades of Words

I have created a PDF document with a range of “snooze” words that your children will often use in their writing, and added some more exciting words to help jazz up those stories. My plan for these is to laminate them and pop them on keyrings, however they could also be blown up and put on display, displayed on the IWB… it’s endless really. Enjoy!!

Ladybird addition to 10

A worksheet designed for early addition to 10. Children are encouraged to count how many spots are on each wing so they can fill in the parts of the number sentence. After this they can count all the spots together to find out how many there are. This can also be used in conjunction with concrete materials so children can further see partitioning for addition.

Used in p1/2 (reception/yr 1, but meets yr1/2 standards) Looking at o’clock and half past times. draw the hands questions and read the clock face questions. Easiest sheet has a box around the hour and all writing other than the hour number. Most challenging worksheet has some questions with one hand, some with no hands and need to fill in both hands, with both o’clock and half past. I’d love to see how these work in your class! I used this resource at the start of my time topic to support teaching the order of the days and months. I was in a mixed class, so P1 (YR) did days of the week with reading support and P2 (Y1) did months with differentiation of seasons/ draw a picture of an event added in too. These worksheets are a great way to assess who has understood and who can read and sequence. Differentiated Numicon Subtraction

Differentiated Numicon Subtraction

(0)
Numicon is an amazing resource for help children to add and take away, this worksheet provides a pictorial representation of numbers so children can understand subtraction in a less abstract way. When I used this sheet, I was introducing numicon as a support for subtraction so the children each had numicon that they matched to the sheet. They started with the first piece, then put the second on top and counted how many of the first piece were left over. This could also be used to help children understand there are different ways to represent numbers. worksheets included are subtraction within 7, 10 and 20. Let me know how you use it by contacting me in Instagram or Twitter @missskippins or by leaving a review.

Number fingers

Do you find it difficult to keep the correct fingers up when adding, subtracting or counting on your hands? I know i do, so think about the children who are still developing those fine motor movements… Get the same results using these printable hands. Either ask the children to fold the fingers, or make them sturdier by laminating them and adding pipe cleaners to the back of each finger. I’m super excited to see how you use these. Let me know on Instagram or Twitter @missskippins or leave a review telling me all about it.
