A homework menu for OCR A-Level Literature Gothic studies - focusing on Dracula and The Bloody Chamber. This is easily adaptable and can be changed to suit your texts too.

A one off lesson, used at an interview, for AQA GCSE Language Unseen Poetry (Section C). The lesson is one hour long for baseline 4-6 children. PPT goes through basic skills for poetry, exam outline, what the examiner is looking for, how to spot devices and build an argument. The resources are attached including the poem, self assessment grid and unseen poetry mat.

A powerpoint presentation and a set of resources that I have used to deliver CPD to secondary school teachers. It is an overview of what Talk for Learning is, how it supports the new curriculum and examples of cross-curricular activities.

Used with a low ability GCSE set, this lesson features a very brief introduction to basic poetic techniques, a discussion on Conflict, a video linked to the poem and an annotation of the poem. The follow-up lesson should be an extended analysis. Also attached is the poetry match worksheet and copy of the poem.

A blank fact file pupils can complete for homework or for a research lesson. Covers Shakespeares basic details, family life, school life, society at the time and working life. Easily adaptable too.

A lesson based on chapter 6 of The Breadwinner in which Parvana is turned into a boy. Pupils read and discuss the chapter and answer questions based on the chapter. Following this pupils then review what makes an effective recipe and create their own (just like the step by step actions the ladies used to turn Parvana into a boy). Included is the example recipe and a writing frame in order to create their own. Used with lower ability year 8.

A literacy lesson for Key Stage 3 in which pupils practise their use of Bias Language and Opinion. This will test pupils prior knowledge of both and how to recognise and use them within creative writing.

Included is a powerpoint used for form time and the article. In the powerpoint there are debate questions and key ideas surrounding the issue. Low ability version of the article is also attached.

Attached is a powerpoint to analyse the theme of Responsibility within the play An Inspector Calls. The powerpoint is used to direct discussion and analysis whilst the A3 planning sheet considers the theme within the play (AO1), how context links to the theme (AO3) and key quotes for each of the major characters in regards to the theme.

An entire PPT purely on the opening stave of Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. This was created the for new 9-1 AQA English Literature study with a mid set year 10 group and can be easily adapted however you like! Used with my bottom set year 8, a lesson based on chapter 4 of the Breadwinner. Read the chapter, answer differentiated questions and study/create a persuasive speech based on mobile phones in school (in Chapter 4 Parvana tries to persuade Mother to help her!) Attached is the writing frame to support pupils in their writing.

This PEEL table plan is an easily adaptable resource. The assessment is based on the change we read in regards to Lady Macbeth's changes in her persona throughout Macbeth. The first page is the actual PEEL table, which you can differentiate to any extent you wish. The second page is a Lady Macbeth quotation page explaining her changes and key quotes that represent these changes - this allows pupils to recognise her changes easily and also select and comment on key quotes. The AO's link to Edexcel English Literature (9-1) and, again, can easily be adapted to your course.

Attached is a lesson used with year 7 who were doing a scheme on Dragons - they were low ability and also doing Fresh Start alongside but it can be easily adapted. The lesson discusses what a Problem page/agony aunt letter is and the devices used within this type of letter.
