This three lesson bundle covers 4.1.1 Growing economies area of the specification. We start by looking at what an economy is and how it is measured. Then we move on to looking at examples of emerging economies such as the BRICs and MINTs.
In the second lesson we look at a case study on Lucozade attempting to challenge Coca-Cola in the USA, students then attempt a question on this, with guidance on how to achieve marks for knowledge, application, analysis and evaluation. Once they’ve answered, we look at an example model answer which students can aspire to when peer assessing and making improvements.
A case study on Mark’s & Spencer entering India, again with guidance and and a model answer for students to look at for marking.
In the third lesson, students look at how China’s growth affects UK businesses, a model answer to look at to develop exam technique.

This three lesson bundle introduces learners to gross and net profit, gross and net profit margin and how they make up the income statement. All topics are broken down so that it is very easy for students to see the logic behind calculations and for the teacher to explain.
An activity to draw up the income statement for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop with answers to go through. Lots of calculation practice for all three topic areas with answers to self or peer assess.
The statement of financial position is slightly detailed so this could be watered down as students just need to know the basics of the balance sheet.

This five lesson bundle starts by introducing learners to revenue, costs and profit. Each of these is broken down to the core, students will get it! Lots of calculation practice to consolidate this. A 9 mark question with a case study and model answer for students to aspire to and peer assess with.
A lesson with a game where students are in groups and must make the most profit by charging the best prices for their business, a live scoreboard to see which team is performing the best.
Break even is broken down to the core also, and again lots of calculation practice. A task to draw BE graphs, the spec doesn’t require this but it will extend their knowledge on the topic.
A case study where we look at the pros and cons of using BE and whether it is useful in a given context.
Finally a lesson on average rate of return, this is broken down step by step, with a few examples so students know exactly what is required, in a concise way so it’s easy to absorb.

This double lesson introduces learners to the importance of cash for the survival of a business, inflows and outflows are discussed, students seperate inflows from outflows, then they go on to complete a cash flow forecast step by step with guidance on the powerpoint. Formulas are given to help work out net cash flow, opening and closing balance. Students then go on to consolidate this by creating a cash flow forecast for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, some further calculation practice followed.
We also look at how to improve cash flows, there is a matching task which can be cut out and phsyically matched or written.
3, 6 and 9 mark questions with model answers to build exam skills on the topic. A consolidation lesson where students complete a cash flow forecast with a template on the computer. They can play with the figures to see how it will affect closing balance.

This double lesson introduces learners to the range of sources of finances available to businesses. We start with looking at why businesses need finance, then go through the different types of finance with their pros and cons, followed by a consolidation activity.
A 9 mark question with a case study on an oil company, with guidance on how to structure.
The second lesson is a more engaging and interactive group lesson where students look at different scenarios and work in groups to provide one source of finance each with a justification, the weakest link gets voted out.

This bundle of 8 lessons introduces learners to the marketing mix, we start off with an introductory lesson looking briefly at all four Ps of the marketing mix.
We then go on to focus on price, looking at a range of pricing strategies, and this is consolidated with a group activity where students decide which pricing strategy is the most appropriate in four different scenarios.
Then we look at the product life cycle, this is illustrated with plenty of real life examples to help students contextualise their understanding of the topic. We look at how a businesse products can be categorised in the boston matrix.

This lesson introduces learners to the stages in the recruitment process, a 3 mark question with a model answer to self assess. An activity to create a job description and person specification. Excellent videos of Lord Sugar asking interview questions which can be asked to the class and then paused to get feedback, then hear answers from Lord Sugar. A 6 mark Discuss question with model answer to help students self assess.
In the lesson, students get to carry out a practical interview, students are given roles of interviewer, interviewee and scribe. Interviewer is given sheets to help guide with questions to ask, the interviewees are given different roles for which they are applying to such as an Apple Genius working at Apple.

This double lesson introduces learners to the different organisational structures. Real life examples, a group task to assemble an organisational structure to consolidate key terms such as span of control, chain of command. We then look at pros of cons of the different types of structures including centralisation and decentralisation. We look at how communication is impacted through the different types of structures.
The second lesson is on job roles and looks at each the different roles include, with a research task to find out what types of jobs, for example a manager, director, assistant might be doing in a business of their choice.
