This bundle of 5 lessons introduces learners to various key fundamental topics. We start by looking at entrepnreneurs to excite and engage the new student cohort. Followed by a lesson on taking risks - exciting activities here for students to weigh up the upsides and downsides of various predicaments they may find themselves in. A third lesson on adding value, we look at key concepts in adding value, students then add value to their t shirts. A fourth lesson on aims and objectives and finally opportunity cost. This lesson introduces learners to the contents and purpose of a business plan, we discuss the sections of a plan, we then go on to look at an infamous example of what it shouldn’t be like in Solomon’s plan presented to Claude Littner in the Apprentice. A 3 mark question with a model answer, a few short tasks before going onto creating a business plan in groups, a template has been provided. Students present back their plans to the class and the class are provided with a sheet to write WWW and EBI with their peers presentations. This free double lesson introduces learners to what marketing is before looking at the 4Ps. We then discuss how coca cola has worked on each P. A pair task to develop a brief marketing mix from a choice of three product types. Students then answer two 3 mark questions with model answers so they can self assess. This is followed by a group task to develop a complete marketing mix for a product of their choice and present back to the class. In the second lesson we recap, then look at the new Amazon Go store that is launching, we discuss the pros and cons of each then have a go at answering a 6 mark analyse question. A 3 mark question with a model answer to peer assess. A few 3 mark questions with model answers to consolidate knowledge and exam technique. We then go on to read a case study about two brothers deciding to start up as either a sole trader and employee or as a LTD. The second lesson looks at franchises, we look at the difference between franchisors and franchisees, then go on to discuss the pros and cons of each, finally applying it to a case study on Subway - which includes a 6 mark model answer for students to use to help each other peer assess. This double lesson introduces learners to the importance of cash for the survival of a business, inflows and outflows are discussed, students seperate inflows from outflows, then they go on to complete a cash flow forecast step by step with guidance on the powerpoint. Formulas are given to help work out net cash flow, opening and closing balance. Students then go on to consolidate this by creating a cash flow forecast for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, some further calculation practice followed. 3 and 6 mark questions with model answers to build exam skills on the topic. A consolidation lesson where students complete a cash flow forecast with a template on the computer. They can play with the figures to see how it will affect closing balance.
