Scheme of Work for Unseen Extracts - AQA A Level - Social Protest and Political Writing
A scheme of work that focuses on a different Assessment Objective every four lessons. Each cycle comprises of four lessons: new learning, student-lead learning, an assessment point and a closing the gap lesson to demonstrate progress. Each lesson moves with the text, allowing students to read section by section, with homework tasks outlined as well as learning objectives directly linked to aspects of social protest and political writing.

Independent Learning Full Lessons: War Poetry

CHIMP Chart - Self and Peer Assessment
The Cyclical Incremental Measurable Progress - or CHIMP Chart allows students to show progress over time in English. Through either Teacher, Self or Peer Assessment, students can highlight the criteria they have achieved in each lesson so that their progress is easily demonstrated.
Focusing on both reading and writing skills and correlating to both the old and new grading system, students can also track their current levels and set themselves independent targets. This is also a great planning tool to aid with Learning Objectives for lessons, especially when based on gaps in students' learning.
This can be printed on A3 paper and placed inside students' books or folders.
Donkey Kong Differentiation
An adaptable Progress Measure that allows students to self-assess or peer-assess their work using set criteria for specific levels. Students can independently work through the set questions and climb the ladders by achieving each of the set criteria, but lose points when hit by a "Literacy Barrel" (e.g. spelling errors).
Students are then able be scored and can compete with each other to enhance engagement as well as learning.
