KS1 & 2 Power-point lesson which can be used as a single lesson or as a stimulus for cross curricular work. 24 slides presented in simple text focusing on Valentine’s day traditions, historical information and traditions. The lesson encourages pupils to work in small groups of three / four to discuss and explain questions about the images and information presented on the slides. Slides include information on Cupid, Venus, St.Valentine, Tudor traditions and Valentine symbols. Pupils are encouraged to record their responses on a group paper in different forms of writing, drawing, solving a riddle and labelling diagrams.

KS1 & 2 powerpoint lesson about Sun Safety. Written mainly for KS1 but can be easily adapted. Powerpoint of 17 slides which promotes small group and paired discussion about sun safety. Can be used as a complete lesson or adapted for an assembly. The first slides look at fun in the sun and lead into some simple facts about the sun following a short paired talk session to assess pupil knowledge. Pupils are encouraged to look at different photographs of the sun (sunset, sun rise, in space) and describe features. There is a very simple slide on Vitamin D and UV rays linked to health. The children can discuss how to protect themselves in the sun and when to wear sunscreen. The final slide is an example of a sun safety poster which pupils can use as a basis to design their own for the rest of the school (and which can be used as an assessment of their learning).

Includes a bullet point reminder of the rules for writing a conversation and an example conversation between two friends for pupils to complete. There is also a word mat of 20 interesting words to use instead of ‘said’. Great to use following a drama or speaking and listening lesson. Can also be used with the majority of topics involving stories and characters (real and fictional).

**Guided reading based on Theseus and the Minotaur with learning objective, suggested questions (7) and a simple chronological story activity. Learning Objective: I can retell the myth Theseus and the Minotaur. I can summarise the story. I wrote this shorter version of the myth for a Year four reading group but it could be used with HA Y3, LA Y5 and Y6. Fits well with cross curricular topic work on Ancient Greeks, Greece, Myths and Legends, Mythological beasts and narrative writing. **

Included are examples of 2 invitations (birthday and Halloween party) for pupils to use in the lesson to spot the key features and help Lei correct his invitation (because no one has replied!). There are key questions to promote discussion and paired work. Also included is a simple invitation template for pupil use. Pupils can also use the important information/checklist to give paired feedback after writing their own invitation. 2. Halloween history and customs lesson of 34 slides. Includes activities and how to write a spell. 3. KS1 Set of 5 fun Halloween counting worksheets. Two worksheets x counting Halloween objects to 10, 1 worksheet each x counting to 15, 20 and 25. Total set of 5 worksheets: Three separate worksheets to enable pupils to match the clothing vocabulary to the correct part of the picture (soldier, gladiator and man in toga). There are ten items of clothing to label on the gladiator and soldier worksheets and six parts to label on the Roman man. PSHE and Drama: Theme of The Starfish KS1/KS2 powerpoint lesson, story and activities. I have added teacher slides to explain activities and ideas which directly precede the pupil tasks. Learning Objectives: I must retell (narrate) the story of The Starfish in my own words. I should create characters in the story and describe them using powerful vocabulary. I could to express my thoughts and feelings clearly about the main meaning or message in the story. I could be able explain what it means to ‘make a difference’ to at least one person, no matter how small. 48 slides which include: Warm up: 20 questions to guess the theme of ‘starfish’. Knowledge: Facts about starfish, a set of starfish information cards and a fact finding activity. Lesson input: ‘The starfish’ story stimulus. Initial thoughts written activity. A KS1 power-point of 40 slides about the life of Florence Nightingale and her impact on nursing, hospitals and hygiene today. The slides are supported ith key questions for pupils based upon simple data and information gathering and prior knowledge about hospitals, germs and infection control. There is a link to a Youtube clip about the life of Florence Nightingale and a range of cross curricular activities to develop knowledge of the Crimea War and the impact of Florence’s work. The final slides focus on the features of a leaflet and include a template of a leaflet scaffolded for the pupils to write about ‘Hand washing’ and share with their families. This power-point can be used as a discrete lesson or to dip into to support teaching about the different aspects of Florence Nightingale’s life and work. The slides are structured to maximise paired and small group talk and activities.
