KS1 powerpoint lesson : How to write a party invitation with a Halloween focus. A KS1 power-point of 14 slides which can be used as one lesson or extended over a longer period. There is a warm up, two activities and a final writing task. Included are examples of 2 invitations (birthday and Halloween party) for pupils to use in the lesson to spot the key features and help Lei correct his invitation (because no one has replied!). There are key questions to promote discussion and paired work. Also included is a simple invitation template for pupil use. Pupils can also use the important information/checklist to give paired feedback after writing their own invitation.

Biography of Roald Dahl simplified into three differentiated pieces for HA, MA, LA in Y5/6. Each simplified biography is up to one page long. Can be used to identify features of biographies, to aid understanding of how to structure a biography and support content understanding.

EY/KS1 Signs of Winter Powerpoint of 29 slides. Learning Objectives: • To know the names of the winter months. • To recognise the signs of winter around me. • To explain some fun activities I can do when it snows. • To sort clothes into summer/ winter seasons. The slides include photographs of winter weather, reasons why some people stay indoors during the cold or icy weather and fun activities outdoors in winter. There is a simple warm/cold weather clothes matching activity and a template for pupils to design a winter hat. Slides also include signs of winter in nature: plants, birds migrating, frozen lakes/ponds, snowstorms, icicles, footprints in the snow. The final slide is a simple winter acrostic poem which can be used as an example for pupils to use as a starting point before writing their own poem. History Detectives -The Mystery of the lost property/Petra the Rose City : Two complete power-point History lessons for pupils in KS1. Lesson one begins with a role play scenario asking pupils to solve a lost property mystery. The learning includes developing historical investigation skills: gathering information from photographic source material, developing historical vocabulary, asking questions and analysing and drawing conclusions to build a character profile. Lesson two builds upon the skills used in the previous lesson using the archaeological world heritage site, the ‘Rose City’ of Petra as a stimulus. Learning focuses on developing understanding of facts, guesses and questions. Included is a simple Petra information sheet which can be printed for pupil use in the lesson. Lesson slides include simple paired tasks to encourage discussion and collaboration and written activities to develop recording skills.

There is one general comprehension on sharks and seven comprehension texts on the following: Angel, Basking, Great White, Great Hammerhead, Nurse, Tiger and Whale sharks. A chronological 39 slide power-point about the life of George Stephenson illustrated with simplified text and photographs. Many of the photographs have been taken from visits to George Stephenson's home area and linked museum visits. The power-point can be used to introduce a History unit in KS1 or 2 or used as a one off lesson.
