Differentiated short division task. Can be used as a worksheet or a thoughts and crosses. Pupils work in pairs. Pupils aim to get a connect four – this can be straight across, diagonal or straight up the sheet. Creates really good discussion around each question. Both pupils complete each question – the person to choose the box wins the box if they get it correct but if they do not get it correct and their partner gets it correct they win the box. First to get connect four - wins. Pupils can also complete as a differentiated worksheet. Pupils can choose between red (foundation, fluency), amber ( little bit harder- the application of the skill), green (secure in the topic being taught, starting to solve problems) and blue (exceeding – pupils can work with skill taught in various contexts, reasoning). Resource; Volume of a cylinder – Tick or Trash. Tick or Trash one – 6 basic questions on finding volume of a cylinder when given the radius and height. Tick or Trash two – 6 basic questions on finding volume of a cylinder when given the diameter and height. Tick or trash 3 – 2 questions given the radius, 2 questions given diameter, 2 questions given the volume find either the height or radius. Tick or Trash 4 – given volume of cube, find volume of cylinder or radius/height (2), given volume of cylinder for height (4) Contains; 1. 4 different tick or trash tasks. 6 questions in each. 2. 4 sets of answers provided with task. 3. Set of instructions to ensure the task runs smoothly. Printing Tip: This resource has been designed to give each pupil a copy. It can be displayed on board but will need to be zoomed in. Print on A4 – two tick or trash tasks on one A4 page. If you wish to print, select ‘shrink’ or ‘print to fit page’ (or fit to page option on your print settings) in order for it to print correctly on A4 and then print 2 copies to one page. Amber – solving one step equations Green – solving one and two step equations This is an engaging way of practicing addition at KS2 level. Perfect for KS3 intervention or consolidation of one and two step equations with a lower ability class.
