To tackle the lack of enthusiasm about homework in my school I created a Nando's style menu of homework. This one is focused on Arthur Conan Doyle's Hound of the Baskervilles. There are 25 homework tasks already planned, differentiated by 'spice'. Since using these menus, where the students pick for themselves, the amount and quality of homework has improved.

A complete powerpoint using whiteboard games, discussion and writing tasks, including all necessary resources, learning objectives and success criteria to teach students how to use capital letters and full stops. A useful one off lesson to ensure key skills are understood and secure. A writing task and differentiated levels are present throughout lesson.

A fun, fast paced and exciting lesson on personification using lots of images to explore how to personify, and what it is. Starting with a riddle to get them thinking, it moves on to learning how to define personification before creating examples. Finishing with planning and writing a description, this lesson worked really well with year 7 in a mixed ability set.

A fun lesson looking at different types of relationships and how we can link them to Blood Brothers. A range of activities including Do Now and Plenary, as well as all learning objectives and success criteria.

A complete lesson on Mickey and Edward's relationship in Blood Brothers and how it changes. This is very much formatted to ensure success at GCSE in the Eduqas exam for English Literature. The lesson begins with a Do Now, before practicing skills for the springboard essay where students are given an extract and need to complete an essay using the whole text. This lesson guides students to find key quotes from other parts of the play as well as annotating the extract given. Students are then given a mock exam question to practice. All success criteria, learning objectives and resources needed are within the PowerPoint.

A set of revision cards that cover the entire play scene by scene with key quotes, key terminology and the major themes. Each slide is cut into 4 pocket sized cards that can be hole punched and put on a key ring to make a set of flip cards helping students with every aspect of the play. The last 3 cards cover the context, about the author and the key characters in the play. An incredibly useful revision resource for students needing to 'get to grips' with Blood Brothers ready for their English Litearture exams.
