This forces me into writing things I would never think of. I then translate it into other words - paraphrasing it. This is enjoyable for me. You can read the story and try to paraphrase it also as an exercise. Using the words is an activity that refreshes them in your mind. Just rote learning of vocabulary is much too boring and ineffective.
