I See Sam Books are a series of early reader books developed to teach children in kindergarten to read. The original series, written in 1972, as part of Southwest Regional Educational Laboratory's (SWRL) Beginning Reading Program (BRP), contained 52 books. The first book in the series starts with just 3 words: I, see, Sam. Every book or two adds a few words, until by book 52, the readers have read 95 different words. The SWRL Kindergarten Beginning Reading Program was first implemented in U.S. public schools in the early 1970's. Due to its tremendous success at achieving its goal of teaching young children to read, over the years the program has been copied, edited and/or revised by a number of individuals, institutions, and companies.

Are you teaching about paper? Are you looking at different materials around us? Are you looking for some visual resources to support your teaching? I have collected 30 high quality images of paper being used in different ways. This could make an excellent display or become a starting point for discussing why we use paper in lots of different ways.
You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss how the paper is being used in each of the photos.
You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about paper.
The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different uses for paper. The students can then discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using paper in each case.
The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

I love to get the students really talking about an issue. I saw another teacher do it and thought that this looks really effective.
My Walk to School Week teaching resources are designed to get the students to think about why we should walk to school, what are the alternatives and the benefits and the costs of walking to school using different modes of transport. They are also designed to get students really talking, listening and expressing their own ideas.
My teaching resources could be printed out and made into an eye catching, thought provoking display or used as a whole class discussion stimulus.
I am now making a new series of resources like this, so that teachers and students can get a lot more out of every lesson.
Want to inspire your students? These pictures form the basic parts of a story to get them thinking. The pictures can be simply mixed up to change the story.
The different pictures from the different stories could all be mixed up to create a really interesting mash-up of different stories.
A real challenge is to see if a class can create a whole story from all the different images in the presentation!
The students can take these images and mix them up to create their own stories. There are two different ways of using this resource. You would separate the stories out, as I have done, or simple go wild, print them all out, laminate them and shuffle them and then use them as a starting point for student's own stories. The real challenge is to see if a class can use them all and still make a coherent story!
