Can you spot the mistake in the text below?
What’s the chances of a manned mission to Mars?
It could be a problem with apostrophes or a missing article, or maybe it just doesn’t
make sense. It could be there’s a punctuation mark missing or a spelling mistake, or
perhaps the words used don’t agree – the verb is singular but the noun is plural …
What do you think? Not sure? You need this book!
Inside you will find 60 examples of incorrect English, including the one above,
adapted from genuine mistakes published in newspaper and magazine articles,
advertisements, websites, and leaflets. Each example has one mistake. Your task is
to find it and say what kind of mistake it is – then write the corrected version.
In the process you will improve your written English by learning to identify the common
mistakes that professional writers make and that professional editors and proofreaders
miss.
We all need to write to communicate with others. This book shows you how to
improve your written English by avoiding the mistakes that the professionals make.
ALSO INCLUDES OUR EXCLUSIVE A-Z OF ENGLISH GRAMMAR WORDS!
This version of the book has an improved reading format and packed full of colourful photos and images to further amuse and motivate students!
Big Grammar Book 1:
It’s jam-packed from cover to cover with a great selection of photocopiable worksheets taken from the popular website. We wanted to provide teachers with a really useful book of no-nonsense grammar worksheets that they can dip into and use in class with students at Entry Level (ESOL Core Curriculum Entry Levels 1 & 2). It is also ideal for students to work with at home since the answers are all printed at the back.
The book is divided into four parts and is graded in difficulty, so that it begins with some basic stuff and builds up to more challenging grammar activities. It features a selection of Essential English worksheets which provide practice for crucial basic areas of knowledge for learners at Entry Level, like using numbers, writing the alphabet, spelling days and months correctly, and so on.
Big Grammar Book 2:
BGB 2 is packed with 101 printable worksheets for teaching and improving grammar skills in English. The topics are wide and varied, starting with Essential English worksheets that cover the basics, like the alphabet, days, months, and telling the time; then tenses (a lot about tenses!), then irregular verbs, question forms, word order in sentences, parts of English, uncountable nouns, and so on! If you have used the first BGB, you will know what to expect from this one. Around 25% of the worksheets in this book are closely modelled on activities in BGB 1, for example Full Stops 1 & 2 ). The material starts off at beginner level, with the alphabet worksheets, then gets progressively more difficult, while staying in Elementary (A1 / A2) level. Only towards the end do things get “tougher”, with articles, conditionals, and phrasal verbs making their inevitable appearance! Don’t worry – all the answers and notes for use are included at the back of this book.
Big Book Grammar Intermediate Level
Big Grammar Book Intermediate Book 1! This grammar book is for you if you are studying English at intermediate level (B2) and above. It’s full of great material for testing your English grammar skills at this level – including question forms, state verbs, phrasal verbs, reported speech, use of articles, error correction, and much more. Many of the worksheets have a special emphasis on using the tenses and structures that you need to practise now, namely past perfect, past perfect continuous, past continuous, present perfect continuous, future continuous, future perfect, and the four conditionals.
Are you studying teeth or dentists? This is a fabulous ESL English teaching pack. It focuses on the topic and extends your students English skills. I have also added a blank set of templates so the students can create their own tests and share them with others in the class. A really nice teaching activity or homework task.

This book was originally in the public domain for free. I spent a considerable amount of time removing all the self promoting hyperlinks to the original free site, as well as adding lots of free, colourful images to each page. This book looks far more professional than the original one and the students will be proud to take it home when it is complete to show their parents.
Talk a Lot - Spoken English Course
A Great Way to Learn How to Really Speak English!
Intermediate Book 1
• Four full-length spoken English courses
• Over 200 hours of quality learning materials!
• Brand new and unique learning method
• Learn to use 8 essential intermediate level verb forms
• Learn real English – idioms, phrasal verbs, and slang!
• Practise using sounds, stress, and connected speech
• 100% photocopiable
As well as the teaching material for each course – around 45 hours in total – this book contains more than 100 pages of additional material which complements the course activities, for use in the classroom or for self-study at home.
This book is for students who are studying from intermediate level (B2/FCE) to advanced level (C1/CAE), although there will also be plenty of good material for students at pre-intermediate level. The main proposal of this book is that intermediate level can come as something of a shock for students who realise that, despite dutifully learning all the basic grammatical forms and vocabulary at elementary level, the English language remains just as unknowable as ever, thanks to the introduction – at intermediate level – of non-literal English
– i.e. idioms, phrasal verbs, and slang. Despite knowing plenty of words with their literal meanings, the goal of fluent communication retreats further into the distance, as the student begins to find coded language wherever they look – English that doesn’t make sense as they know it. For example, they may have learned the vocabulary words “cost”, “arm”, and “leg”, but do they know what it means “to cost an arm and a leg”? (To be very expensive!)
Talk a Lot Intermediate provides plenty of practice with these bewildering forms.

I have created a PowerPoint presentation combining Paper 1 and the mark scheme so you can ask a question, and immediately see the answer and the explanation. This is great for a wide range of different circumstances. If the students have completed the test this lets the teacher review the paper question by question. It also a great what of revising grammar at the whole class level. Each student shows the answer on whiteboard and then immediately check their answers.
A variety of questions has been included in this sample test to demonstrate the formats and
curriculum content that pupils may encounter in a live test. A commentary is provided in the
mark scheme that accompanies each question.
This sample test mark scheme is provided to give teachers an indication of how the tests will
be marked. The mark schemes for the sample tests have been subject to a shorter process
than the full, rigorous development process that is used for live mark schemes.
The sample test and mark schemes have been reviewed by teachers and other expert reviewers.
I love to get the students really talking about an issue. I saw another teacher do it and thought that this looks really effective.
My Walk to School Week teaching resources are designed to get the students to think about why we should walk to school, what are the alternatives and the benefits and the costs of walking to school using different modes of transport. They are also designed to get students really talking, listening and expressing their own ideas.
My teaching resources could be printed out and made into an eye catching, thought provoking display or used as a whole class discussion stimulus.
I am now making a new series of resources like this, so that teachers and students can get a lot more out of every lesson.
