Return to Kangaroo Island
How to use the ‘Map of Kangaroo Island’:
The map could be used in several different ways:
1. The most obvious use is as a treasure map. Give learners a map and tell them that there is some buried treasure hidden in one of the squares. Each learner selects a square in turn. Tell them if the treasure is there or not. If it is not the right square everyone must put a cross through it. Keep going until someone guesses correctly. You could also add some forfeits in different squares – for example: ‘B5 – recite the alphabet backwards’, or spot prizes if you are feeling generous! Depending on time and how the game is going, give clues by saying whether the guess is ‘hot’ or ‘cold’ (near or far away). The aim of the game is to practise learners’ listening skills.
Lots more other exciting ideas and a map!
I found the book A LITTLE Catechism, WITH LITTLE VERSES, AND LITTLE SAYINGS, FOR Little Children, printed for John Lawrence at the Angel in the Poultrey, 1692. I thought wouldn't it be fun to mix these old saying with some modern images.
I converted the book into a set of three presentations to make it easy for a teacher to share and discuss them with the class.
It is a nice way of seeing what ideas have endured the tests of time, and which ideas would now be considered a shocking idea.
This is also a nice insight into what people believed in the Middle Ages.
Are you teaching Easter? Are you looking for a wide range of different, colourful images to help your teaching or provide a quick and simple display? I have collected together 30 different images of Easter for you to share with your class.
It comes complete with a 31 Teaching Activity Teacher Guide to help you get the most out of your teaching and this purchase.
You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different materials being shown in each of photos.
You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about Easter.
The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different Easter features. The students can then discuss why each one represents Easter.
Welcome to the 'Let’s Talk in Danish!
This set of cards looks at 57 different settings. The teacher describes something in the top card. The students then use this to model a sentence using the bottom set of pictures. There are lots of things to see and describe in every picture. When the students have completed this task, they can repeat it by working in pairs to discuss each picture.
What works very well is for the two pictures to be directly projected on a wall. The teacher talks about the top picture, such as 'In my picture, I can see two seagulls flying.'... then the students model their responses, using the sentence structure provided by the teacher.

Are you learning Urdu? Are you looking for a fun way to learn Urdu? I have developed a way to learn different languages based on my experience as an ESL teacher. This pack has 57 different settings for students to talk about in Urdu. The worksheets themselves are in English and the students do need to translate the places and objects they see into Urdu. At the end of the session, the students can play a fun game of word bingo to show they have mastered that day’s vocabulary. Try it, it is a lot of fun for everyone!
