Stone Fox, by John Reynolds Gardiner, is a novel about a very determined boy named Willy. He enters a dog sled race in order to win $500 to pay back the taxes on his grandfather's farm.
Use these creative activities as a quick assessment after completing the novel Stone Fox with your students.
The students will have the opportunity to recap the necessary parts of the novel, setting, characters, plot and themes. Students will also write sentences using some of the vocabulary words.
A "what if" section will have the students thinking about other scenarios that could have taken place in the novel.
They will also analyze the novel title and have the opportunity to give the novel a new title and cover.
