The PowerPoint starts with general definitions, moving onto identifying ionic substances that will dissociate in water. This then leads towards writing net ionic equations and then understanding further on how ionic half equations are written in terms of OILRIG. Edexcel 9-1 CC6a Covalent Compounds TOPIC 1 KEY CONCEPTS OF CHEMISTRY PAPER 1 and PAPER 2- NEW for SEPTEMBER 2017 This lesson was for my bottom set year 9's - they just could not understand covalent bonding therefore I took it to the next level. I ordered 12 hula hoops (outer shells) and 48 airflow balls (electrons) I dismantled the hula hoops so they could be taken apart and then put back together and the airflow balls could be added to the outer shells. This is a step - by - step guided lesson. IF hula hoops and airflow balls are not available this can be carried out on WHITEBOARDS so it can be used by everyone.
